Nancy Pelosi names Nadler, Schiff as managers for Trump’s Senate trial
NY Post ^ | January 15, 2020 | Mark Moore

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced on Wednesday that Reps. Jerrold Nadler and Adam Schiff will be among the impeachment managers who will press the House’s case against President Trump during a Senate trial.

“Today is the day that we name the managers, we go to the floor to pass the resolution to transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate,” she said.

Nadler, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, and Schiff, the head of the House Intelligence Committee, played crucial roles in the House’s impeachment inquiry into Trump last fall.

Others include Reps. Zoe Lofgren, Hakeem Jeffries and Val Demmings, Jason Crow, Sylvia Garcia.

The House managers are expected to personally deliver the articles to the Senate later Wednesday.

White House counsel Pat Cipollone and Jay Sekulow, Trump’s personal lawyer, will lead Trump’s defense.

Pelosi’s announcement comes just hours before the House will vote on releasing the two articles of impeachment – for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress – to Senate so a trial can get underway.

The speaker has been holding up delivering the articles since the House voted on Dec. 18 to pressure Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to release the framework of how a trial would be conducted, call witnesses to testify and not hold a vote to dismiss.

Schiff, Sept. 26: "It reads like a classic organized crime shakedown. Shorn of its rambling character and in not so many words, this is the essence of what the president communicates. We’ve been very good to your country, very good. No other country has done as much as we have. But you know what? I don’t see much reciprocity here. I hear what you want. I have a favor I want from you though. And I’m going to say this only seven times so you better listen good. I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent, understand. Lots of it. On this and on that. I’m going to put you in touch with people, not just any people, I am going to put you in touch with the attorney general of the United States, my Attorney General Bill Barr. He’s got the whole weight of the American law enforcement behind him. And I’m going to put you in touch with Rudy. You’re going to love him. Trust me. You know what I’m asking. And so I’m only going to say this a few more times. In a few more ways. And by the way, don’t call me again. I’ll call you when you’ve done what I asked."

"This is in sum and character what the president was trying to communicate with the president of Ukraine. It would be funny if it wasn’t such a graphic betrayal of the president’s oath of office. But as it does represent a real betrayal, there’s nothing the president says here that is in America’s interest after all."

A known, public liar with a political agenda is the manager for this farce. That seems appropriate.

You could hear a pin drop among the reporters as Pelosi and Nadler spoke and walked away.

What? No shouted questions at them like whenever President Trump makes an announcement; it shows they respect the Dims more than the President.

The media will be all about this tonight and the truly historic Chinese trade agreement will be at the bottom of page 2. BTW, as I type the Dow is up 160 points and over 29,100!!

Democrat prosecutors have what? Hearsay witnesses? And their articles of impeachment don’t even accuse the President of committing real crimes.

At some point we the people will have to recognize that the House is in anti-American hands and they intend to bring down the country through endless investigations and harassment.

Both sides already know this. The problem is that the majority of voters in their districts are fully on board with that plan. San Fran Nan is safe in her seat for her lifetime, as long as she keeps working to tear down the country.

Where Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will DENY the articles and REFUSE them to be submitted. (I wish)

Is it OK to pray along the following lines?:

Lord, send Your justice down upon these evil traitors before they can do any more harm to all Your faithful.”

Schiff as both manager AND witness will be interesting.

There is no court in America that would allow an attorney to be a witness in any trial, at any level... most especially a criminal proceeding. This is already a big breach of all legal ethical norms.

Schiff has a conflict of interest given that he is a probable witness.

By naming Nadler and Schiff, she protects them from being called as fact witnesses.

And if you think these two made a circus of the House proceedings, you ain't seen nothing yet.

"Cocaine Mitch CANNOT BE TRUSTED. Paul Sperry@paulsperry_ Is POTUS walking into a trap in the Senate? 9:59 PM · Jan 14, 2020"

Agree. China wants Trump gone and there is a lot of Chinese money and business in his family businesses. Combine Mitch with the usual suspects in the Senate, I will not be surprised with considerable treachery before there is a final vote.

Nadler having to lean on the Queen Nancy’s podium like he was talking to the mechanic at the tire shop was priceless.

The bunch of them on stage was a public meeting of the liar’s club.

There is a future drinking game to be held based on utterance of the word “coverup” by the desperate Dims.

As per usual since the hoaxblower impeachment op launched 3 months ago the House Dems are acting and the GOP Senate is gum flapping. A walk over for the Dems over the do-nothing GOP Senate.

Because, you know, they both did such great jobs before.

Could not pick a better pair to represent everything the modern democrat party stands for.

"There is no court in America that would allow an attorney to be a witness in any trial, at any level"

With the limited exception of cases where attorney fees are allowed as damages. An attorney can testify as to the amount of his fees and the hours spent on the case. It's often done by affidavit.

This is a political trial. Normal legal rules don’t apply to an impeachment trial.
