There is no situation that cannot get much worse by summoning the law.

Interesting panegyric — thanks for posting. I have to admit having no knowledge of this thinker. Will have to seek and read some of his work.

I suppose it is somewhat pharisaic.

There are many YouTube videos of him lecturing on various topics and/or debating with liberals.
Since he is a British conservative he can't have been expected to oppose the National Health Service or to be emphatically anti-immigration, but he is certainly better than the run-of-the-mill Tory.

The author of the essay is Douglas Murray who wrote the book "The Strange Death of Europe" which is essentially anti-immigration. He often appeared with Scruton to support a more modest immigration plan and oppose the construction of hideous modern architecture.
Murray also helped Scruton get his reputation back after Scruton was subjected to a hatchet job by George Eaton of The New Statesman. So Murray is something of a hero too, although he is openly gay. I guess he fears being thrown from the top of the Tower of London when the Muzzies take charge.

Before this became news to me I was reading
Ed Feser's blog about Scruton's
The Last Superstition. Feser writes, "...things are only going to get worse. Much much worse. Brace yourselves."

Ed Feser is a great guy. He was totally dissed by Francis when soon after Feser came out with his book defending the traditional Catholic belief in favor of Capital Punishment, Francis decided to inveigh against it.
