During President Donald Trumps interview with Fox News Laura Ingraham on Friday, the president spoke about his positive relationship with Saudi Arabia, including how the country is paying to use American troops. Conservative Rep. Justin Amash (I-Mich.), who until recently was a Republican, responded to Trumps remarks in a tweet, saying, He sells troops.
Saudi Arabia is paying us for [our troops]. We have a very good relationship with Saudi Arabia, Trump said. I said, listen, youre a very rich country. You want more troops? Im going to send them to you, but youve got to pay us. Theyre paying us. Theyve already deposited $1 billion in the bank.
Democrats think we ought to pay other countries to protect them.
Then give them a raise for being in a shithole. Call it service pay for Shithole duty. Similar to combat pay for crap duty.
Im pretty sure Troops in Saudi get imminent danger pay and family separation pay.
Serving up troops for cash!?! FU, Wade. He never said that. At least other countries are paying is something now, you disingenuous tool.
And pay in an imminent danger zone is tax free.
I hope so, I pulled sub pay and it wasnt as good as being home. Better than nothing though. There aint no easy road make the raghats pay.
We see the danger of returning soldiers marauding in their own country in Germany after World War I and in Japan by the Ronin. We know the danger to the Roman Empire from their hired mercenaries at the gates.
The danger is not in what Trump is doing now in Saudi Arabia, the danger might arise when hiring American youth out as mercenaries becomes a decision made by unpatriotic Democrats. What assurance will we have that they will not put a Joe Biden in charge and close an eye to his raking off blood money?
Worse, will Trump's successors cut deals to wage wars for profit? Which Democrat do you trust?
Is this quote inaccurate?
I said, listen, youre a very rich country. You want more troops? Im going to send them to you, but youve got to pay us. Theyre paying us. Theyve already deposited $1 billion in the bank.
I imagine he sees it as similar to expecting South Korea to pay us for the troops we have there.
The question isn’t so much being reimbursed for it as how much we should be projecting our military strength with troop placement around the world.
NeverTrumpers and RINOs hardest hit!
I quite agree, I just don't want to see the vital question being influenced in the dark recesses of Washington calculation by venality. Consider what politicians do in legalizing then taxing nicotine or marijuana.
Does the tail start to wag the dog?
Until we bring them home we should be compensated for them.
And if other countries have to pay for them then maybe they will start to defend themselves and we can bring them home.
“nothing more than” cash? That’s how this moron sees it?
We have troops around the world before, to protect allies and our interests. Other countries began to rely on our troops in place of their own.
What is wrong with asking them to pay -since they’re saving a pile of money at our expense?
Sadly the tail’s been wagging the dog for far too long. Europe has long looked at us as the ally who provides the cheap and ready military bodies for their shared neocon/globalist interests.
Trump is demanding they pay their share for our boots on the ground. If he peels of some perks for the troops thats nice too. How many wet blanket assholes on here or that read that rag have stuck their ass out there. Ive been part of three generations defending the US. We have interest in places and this aint checkers. We help them they owe us and the troops.
If you are running a 300-million dollar-per-day military operation, and you got some other idiot to pay the bulk of that...then you throw the ‘profit’ to other projects (like that southern border wall).
Which homo sapiens actually still PAY to read Roaring Stoned?
They couldn’t pay me to read them.
Freaking Socialist propaganda.
