Trump administration asks Supreme Court not to rule on Obamacare ahead of election
Washington Examiner ^ | January 10, 2020 | Kimberly Leonard

The Department of Justice doesn't want the Supreme Court to fast-track a case that could result in Obamacare being thrown out ahead of the presidential election, despite its position that the healthcare law should be abolished.

If the court agrees with the Trump administration, then President Trump and Republicans will be spared the possibility of having to come up with an Obamacare replacement in the middle of campaigning.

Why do I think this is half true? Wouldn’t they have to withdraw and resubmit?

You know if their needs to be a delay in getting something clearly unconstitutional until after the election, that means the Republicans have no plan! Here’s what Trump needs to do, kill the EO exempting them from their platinum coverage, and for them to get their own health care. Then tell them that this is what is going to happen
1.Insurance WILL be sold across state lines
2.Their WILL be a cap on medical lawsuits!
3.Their will not be socialist Medicare for all!

“...that means the Republicans have no plan!”

No, it means the Republicans don’t have the votes. Remember McCain and his thumbs down. McCain has been replaced with a like mind, in case you have forgotten.

Hmmm...what will Roberts do? Slow it down, or speed it up?

That will tell us where he’s at, for sure.

No, this means the Democrats and the MSM will start clamoring for the ruling.
When it comes down against them, they will own it! ..IMO

A replacement is free enterprise and not gov’t interference that has raised the cost of medical care.

Republicans should have come up with a plan a hell of a long time ago.

What a crock. It’s amazing how many candidates want Medicare for all. That proves right there that Ovomitcare is an abject failure! Not a single republican will call them on it.

What a pathetic bunch of quislings.

The only rational “replacement” is simply no replacement and getting the federal government completely out of the health and insurance businesses and make it illegal for drug companies to sell their on-patent drugs at generic prices in other countries. One price only to be followed by heavy sanctions against foreign entities cloning the patent drugs. Prices of drugs would come down, even the on patent prices.

From the referenced article:
"On Dec. 18, [2019] the judges ruled 2-1 that the health insurance mandate was unconstitutional but that the rest of the law needed further analysis by the lower courts to see whether some parts could be separated out and others could not [emphasis added]."

Based on date of the article referenced below, it looks like it took the court roughly 7+ years (2019 - 2012) just to decide if individual mandate was unconstitutional. Corrections, insights welcome.

Obamacare's 2,700 pages are too much for justices (March 29, 2012)

The question is, are anti-PDJT justices willing to try to ram 2000+ page Obamacare through their constitutional verification process like misguided Speaker Pelosi rammed Obamacare through the House to try to possibly soften PDJT's 2020 record-breaking landslide?

Remember in November!

No it means they have no plan. They are asking the SCOTUS to delay the ruling, meaning the republic-can’t would have to come up with a replacement before the election. There is none. They want to win the house and senate, get it declared unconstitutional, and then.....nothing. They ran on repeal and replace....except they have no replacement.

And stop covering preexisting conditions after one year to allow enrollment and return to the concept of actual insurance.

Something this huge needs the routine, measured and careful deliberation of the court. “Fast tracking” anything means things have to be shot through before a narrative cannot be achieved, such as demonstrated in the impeachment railroad.

No, it means the Republicans don’t have the votes. Remember McCain and his thumbs down. McCain has been replaced with a like mind, in case you have forgotten.

McCain's thumbs down was on a repeal of the individual mandate and other parts of Obamacare, not a replacement plan of any kind. Trump had said on multiple occasions that he has a better replacement for Obamacare but nobody's seen it.

If the Supreme Court strikes down Obamacare prior to the election then that means pre-existing condition coverage is gone, coverage for adult children is gone, the subsidies for thousands of people are gone, all the popular parts of Obamacare are gone along with all the negative parts. The Democrats will be in clover and the Republicans will be scrambling to explain what happens next.

What it means is that President Trump would not be able to get the replacement through the house while the dems are still in charge.
