Admitting to downing Ukraine jetliner will cost Iran regime dearly

The assassination of Gen. Soleimani gave the regime a golden opportunity to rehabilitate the IRGC in Iranian public opinion by focusing on its role in defeating Sunni jihadist organizations outside of Iran, such as ISIS and al-Nusra/al-Qaeda in Iraq and Syria. Those brutally sectarian organizations, which murder Shia and destroy their shrines, are even more unpopular in Iran than the IRGC. Suddenly, the crowds on the street were celebrating an IRGC commander, in scenes reminiscent of the 1980s when the revolution was new. But the honeymoon proved extremely short-lived. The Ayatollahs’ regime began to blow their golden opportunity before Gen. Soleimani’s body was in the ground.

The regime’s incompetence and indifference was evident on Tuesday morning as massive crowds gathered in Soleimani’s hometown of Kerman. The government wanted the crowds to be as large and as emotional as possible. It appears that more thought was given to the design of the giant posters that overhung the event than to managing the crowds or keeping people safe. The result was a deadly crush. About 60 people died in the stampede and more than 200 were injured.

The same reckless neglect was on display again 24 hours later, as Flight 752 fell from the sky.

It is a pattern in a country that has a record of preventable deaths on its roads, rails and in the sky.

The crash of Flight 752 is the fourteenth Iranian air crash since 2000 to have caused more than 25 fatalities. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/iran-iraq-crash-soleimani-trump-1.5423238

Flight PS752 of the Ukrainian airlines departs from Imam Khomeini Airport and, while in rotation, is completely approaching a sensitive military center of the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps and at altitude and in form of a hostile flight.

That plane was following the same flight path it always takes. It flies daily at the same time, unless there's a delay in take-off for some reason. Steve Lookner, on Agenda Free TV, pulled up all that data tonight and showed that it didn't vary from its regular flight path.

Flat out lies by the Iranians, but who's surprised?

". . . Russian military shooting down the Malaysian Airlines MH17 flight . . ."

They have to toss a bit of propaganda into everything possible. I don't believe for a second that the Russians shot down MH17. Either the rebel Ukrainians or the government Ukrainians shot it down with odds favoring the government since it was their flight controllers who allowed it over a war zone and told it both course and altitude.

Release the trained gatekeeper baying hounds.

I can’t see where sanctioning the downing of the plane would make sense - wondering if someone who thought they needed to do much more to retaliate for the dead guy decided to “give things a nudge” without permission...

Demand that Iran give your nation $150billion. They should have it somewhere.

Truly amazing stupidity in blaming the nuts & bolts in the process like the people who pulled the trigger while the whole process is controlled by the religious government. Simple 80/20 is on display. Praying 5x a day should not save a single mullah or the ayatollah.

Someone was on that plane who had knowledge of Iranian payoffs to Obama officials to get the nuke deal signed, or perhaps Ukrainians who knew details of corruption. The shoot down came at a time when the world was focused on the killing of the terrorist. Does not pass smell test.

——payment of compensation,——

Hmmm...... can one squeeze blood from a turnip?

A young and very nervous officer faced with pulling the trigger or getting his ass severely chewed, pulled the trigger. There was not time for rational analysis or asking permission

Based on what I’ve read sounds like a pretty total and unequivocal açceptance of responsibility. Iran may not be that far off to being open to dialog about other things at this moment. Since they’ve taken responsibility I wonder what their willingly to compensate the victims and generally work through this situation with Ukraine and Canada.

I do not doubt Ukraine will get what it seeks.

One of the foundations of their regime is to not be uncivilized barbarians like the Sunnis.

They envision themselves better than Arabs.

That’s not enough.

It’s lip service because they know they are on thin ice with the world already.

Iran has shown itself to be more civilised than Russia,” pro-western Ukraine MP Volodymyr Ariev wrote on Facebook.

“Tehran has admitted its guilt in three days while Russia continues to try to get out of it.”

Oh Bull!!

Dozens of flights daily make the same takeoff pattern out of that airport!!

...can’t -- discern a civilian aircraft from a military one...

ALL commercial planes have transponders on them that IDENTIFY them!

“and, while in rotation, is completely approaching a sensitive military center of the Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps and at altitude and in form of a hostile flight.”

but oddly enough with a flight path EXACTLY identical to thousands of other civilian flights taking off from that same runway every year ...

It’s not even fair to expect hard action from Ukraine right now. They have their hands full with the Russian invasion.

Canada on the other hand is comfortable and a rich country and they should be pressured to do something.
