Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives voted Friday against adopting language that would have merely added preborn children to existing safety regulations on drinking water.
HR 535, the PFAS Action Act of 2019, would amend the federal Safe Drinking Water Act by adding “unborn child” to its list of subpopulations that would be particularly vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water. It defines “unborn child” as a “member of the species homo sapiens, at any stage of development who is carried in the womb,” which has already been used in federal law in the Unborn Victims of Violence Act.

While federal laws guaranteeing safe drinking water are arguably a good idea, patriots are reminded that, regardless that the proposed pro-life amendment to the Water Act failed, it remains that the states have never amended the Constitution to give the feds the specific power to make such laws in the first place.
”From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added].” —United States v. If these misguided federal Democrats really want clean water for citizens then they need to get out of the federal government and get themselves elected to a state government whose voters are willing to experiment with their ideas using 10th Amendment state powers as the Founding States had intended for those powers to be used.
Justice Brandeis had put it this way about the "laboratories of democracy," the unique powers of the sovereign states to serve the people, depending on what the legal majority citizen voters of a given state want.
"It is one of the happy incidents of the federal system that a single courageous State may, if its citizens choose [emphasis added], serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country.” —Justice Brandeis, Laboratories of democracy.
(Note that constitutional limits on states as laboratories of democracy is that states cannot establish privileged / protected classes or abridge constitutionally enumerated rights, and must maintain a constitutionally guaranteed republican form of government.)
Otherwise, if Democrats are getting tired of misguided Speaker Pelosi’s mock impeachment of PDJT like the rest of the nation is, then they can always volunteer to help deliver the mail.
After all, the US Mail Service is one of the very few constitutionally express powers that the feds actually have to dictate domestic policy, most other federal domestic policy based on stolen state powers (imo) according to excerpt above from United States v. Butler.
