I think the shooting down of the airliner is one of the reasons why Iran went so quiet so quickly. They decided to quit while they were way behind until the world turned its attention elsewhere.
How sad, to think all their hopes and dreams gone just like that, depressing.

Maybe it had a transponder from an American F-4 and they thought it was going to attack them.
I grieve for the passengers and crew, but especially the children.

No sure about that. There was an exclusion zone (again not sure how big) and civilian aircraft were suppose to monitor a certain radio frequency. The ship tried to contact the aircraft both on military and civilian frequencies and did not get a response.

I’ve been on flights where I was greatly relieved to be wheels-up. I’m betting a lot of those folks were glad to have Tehran in the rear-view when the missile(s) hit. RIP.
The missile looks like it came from a bunker complex west of Parand. The Pilots might have even saw it coming up at them.
I’m glad no Americans were on board. That would complicate our situation.

So even though 180 innocent lives were lost - it might have save many more.
That’s obvious, my point that was if a pilot was taking hostile maneuvers you can be justified in taking defensive action, that’s not a accident, everyone knew what they were doing.
I was at the point in my life when I wanted to imitate my dad in every way...I used to go over to the Fleet Activities building in Yokosuka across the street from where I lived, and I would follow him down the polished linoleum hallways, his feet making a distinctive "clack".
I wanted to walk just like him...:)
I also began to imitate his handwriting in earnest. He had a clean, legible block print, and I simply didn't have the coordination to learn cursive handwriting. I have handwriting nearly like his now, perhaps a bit more angular.
Sigh. How I miss him.
