Watch Portland live to regret it as it morphs into a ghost town
The Stupid is strong in Portland. Either Walmart pulls up stakes or Walmart raises their prices and the citizens of Portland pay for their insanity.
Good for Portland. Send some of your jobs here
The biggest corporations in Portland is Intel and Nike.
When Intel installed solar arrays in rainy Portland, you knew something was up.
Portland has been trying to steal land from Nike and increase taxes on Intel for a long time.
Once you understand that, the insanity of the Lefts ideology makes sense.
There's no reason we can't go after natural gas.
Ahh, yes, this time the plan WON’T FAIL. Since it turned out that simply assessing and referring work to contractors ran $6,000 per home (other companies do the job for under $200), THIS time with much more money to waste than the 30 million blown from Obama & state funds from last time, it’ll be MUCH different.
Translation: If a retailer sells more than $500,000 locally and a billion nationally, all their retail sales are taxed 1 percent. And since corporations do not generate money, this means those who are supposed to be helped by this program get to pay the majority of the cost while (hahahaha) well intentioned people suck up money into their pockets.
Got me how companies are going to handle it; there’s no sales tax to toss a surcharge onto. I assume Portland hopes that most companies just suck it up and the whole country gets to pay for it (as corporations do not generate income, they charge consumers for their overhead/profit, so all corporate taxes are paid for by consumers as a part of the cost of goods.)
I guess Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Target, Walmart, etc can either change prices in Portland or change the size of products sold nationally to take into account the Portland tax. Either way, the people targeted for the benefits will end up paying for it (it just is a question as to how many more people they take with them.)
Does this mean Portland will actually pick up the garbage that is all over their streets and parks? Portland is the filthiest city I visit for business. Trash everywhere because of the homeless bums living in the street and parks.
It’s not carbon, it’s carbon dioxide. Carbon enters into chemical combination with other elements to form complex molecules, without which life would be impossible.
Logically then, they need to tax breathing by animals, because that emits carbon dioxide.
a tax is a tax is a tax
green energy jobs are great....... just ask Soylandra employees
The green fight is always who, who receives the ill gotten gains. Some fat cat with a large mansion, an elite's yacht, no,
send me my green money !!
Bet someone on the city council has a brother in law who owns a solar panel company. Just watch as that $60 million magically disappears.
the only green in the new deal is the money involved...
More than state rights, support city rights. 80% of Democrats live within city limits. If you sell Democrats enough rope, they will hang themselves. They never learn.
. . . and I wager that Seattle will do the same and soon.
Will the last person to leave Portland please turn out the lights?
Will have the same effect the soda taxes did in Oregon and Washington....consumers will simply drive to another city to buy their stuff at lower prices and leave Portland retailers with empty stores.
