Ive been pondering what to write about Irans top military leader Qassem Soleimani ever since he was killed last Friday.
Sometimes in this high-speed, social media-driven, fake news-corrupted era, patience is a virtue for journalists, especially opinionated columnists like me, and it makes sense to take a pause before committing to any firm conclusions.
My initial feeling on hearing the news was one of relief that such an obviously despicable human being was dead.
My second feeling, one that I suspect most people had whatever their view of President Trumps decision to order Soleimanis death via a drone strike on his car convoy at Baghdad airport, was concern at what this meant for world peace.
But now, five days later, and after Iran hit back at America last night with missile strikes at US bases in Iraq, I know what I think, and its this: Trump was absolutely

And the democrats are getting weaker and less relevant by the moment . . .
Piers suddenly grew a pair after returning to the UK.
I appreciate anyone getting it right in the public arena these days.
Thanks Piers Morgan.
REMINDS me of Bin Laden being offered to Clinton. Offer declined. No one paid the price except hose in the trade center.
Add Morgan to the very short list of sane liberals.
Agreed...
Last time I heard Piers Morgan was insanely anti-gun.
If Iran has leaders who are murderous terrorists, just what are the good people of Iran supposed to do about it if their right to keep and bear arms has been taken from them by force and people like Morgan refuse to recognize that their right to defend themselves includes the right to change their form of government, by force if necessary?
If well-armed Iranians fail to rein in their murderous government, then they are responsible for it. People like Morgan need to recognize that the Iranians have a right to keep and bear arms just like people everywhere.
So, which is it, Morgan? Are the Iranian people responsible for tolerating their murderous government? Or is the murderous government responsible for disarming their people and perpetrating terrorism in their name?
In either case, the murderous terrorists deserve to be droned by whoever has the means to do so. Perhaps at the same time we should be dropping M16s and ammo all over Iran to give the disarmed the power they need to oppose their tyrannical government.
ok what’s going on with piers? Seen several reports on him actually supporting republicans
[[Last time I heard Piers Morgan was insanely anti-gun. ]]
Exactly, i think he’s even changed his mind o nthat if i remember right though-
And leaving CNN
Morgan is still very anti-gun, but he seems able to listen to reason and facts about other things.
Waaaait a minute. What’s going on here? First CNN and now Pierced Organ?
Did he change his mind on guns or is it just that being anti-gun isn’t a central thing for him the way it is important to communists?
For those who don’t know, Morgan was one of the first winners on Celebrity Apprentice and while he’s generally a limey prick, he has a soft spot for Trump. His battles with Omarosa on that show were epic.
I’m not sure, i thought i had read he was actually supporting rights at one point0- but i might be thinking of soemone else- don’t hold me to that-
He is still anti-gun but having followed him for years I can honestly say I respect him and value his views. We are vastly different in some areas and exactly the same in others. I will admit I like reading his columns.
I find it ironic that his favorite soccer team is Arsenal, the “Gunners”.
Aside from Piers wetting his panties over 2nd Amendment rights in the US, he’s actually quite pragmatic about many issues. And as an aside, he seems to have this somewhat unrequited bromance going with Trump. He would never come out of the closet or his career would be in shambles, but Piers is more of an old school establishment centrist/RINO than 2020-era liberal/Socialist, methinks. He’d make a decent Blue Dog Democrat, if this were the 1980’s.
What a great article.
I’ve been impressed with his opinions on things lately.
He’s coming around to reality.
