I am pleasantly surprised that the Yale News ran this article. The lack of diversity and resultant groupthink causes self-censorship, as well as overt censorship. Gelernter is right. If Yale truly did pursue a diversity of political thought, it would stand out as " the one intellectually serious elite university in the country,” and a “worldwide phenomenon.” But it won't do that because that is not their purpose. Their current unstated purpose is to indoctrinate and produce progressive leaders. That's too bad.

History departments are the worst. They’re completely overrun by PC Revisionists who went from ascendency to dominance in the late 80s/early 90s. Question the received orthodoxy and you can forget about getting hired, getting tenure or even getting in as a grad student. It was not always so. There used to be lively debate and various interpretations within the history faculty but once 60s Leftists completed their “long march through the institutions”, you were no longer allowed to question PC dogma in any way.

Hard to believe that their idea of diversity is actually an assortment of colors with the exact same thought process (kind of like M&Ms - look different with exact same insides) instead of actual diversity of ideas....and they are supposed to be providing “higher education”...
