The Trump administration took steps Tuesday to roll back an Obama-era rule intended to ensure that communities confront and address racial segregation in housing, saying local governments have been overburdened by the requirements.

The proposed Department of Housing and Urban Development rule would redefine fair housing standards to place more emphasis on improving housing choice rather than reducing discrimination. It would reduce regulatory burdens and eliminate the assessment tool used to map racial segregation under the 2015 Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule.

According to HUD, simplifying the process for cities to meet fair housing requirements would help them meet their civil rights obligations. But housing advocates caution the plan would substantially weaken fair housing enforcement, leading to a resurgence of racial segregation across the country. […]

Housing Secretary Ben Carson, who previously criticized President Barack Obama’s fair housing rule as “social engineering,” said the new rule would give people more affordable housing options in communities nationwide. …

The Obama rule sought to spread ghettos throughout the community.

Obama was planning to use HUD to force big Section 8 apartment blocks into suburbs that typically vote Republican.

I got a better idea. Abolish HUD. If they haven’t been able to fix the problem after 50 years I mean, come on.

Obama was also planning to implant muslims in otherwise stable neighborhoods. Sleepers.

I wonder how many people who need some sort of HUD program to get into housing live in cities and districts dominated by demonicRATS. Is “all of them” a safe estimation?

A big part of the Obama era rule was to force builders to intersperse apartment complexes into residential developments, and to surround established neighborhoods with apartments.

Reducing the value of every single family residence.

What racial segregation in housing?

Show me one place in the United States where a person’s skin color precludes them from buying or renting a domicile.

Judging by the new housing projects in the far northern ‘burbs of Detroit in Macomb County(Hall Rd. in particular)...I’d say he was pretty successful.

Why does HUD exist anyway? Where is it authorized in the Constitution? Housing is a state issue (or a local issue). Why are my taxes being used to house junkies in LA or Chicago?

"Obama was planning to use HUD to force big Section 8 apartment blocks into suburbs that typically vote Republican."

That's exactly correct.

HUD would also decide whether you could buy a house or not based on race. They wanted to assure that enough Blacks moved into White neighborhoods...Whites couldn't buy there if there were already to many Whites, etc.

And all of it, all the rules, are at the whim of bureaucrats.

Scotus thinks this is constitutional government.

Green is the only color that matters when it comes to housing these days.

Yes, and someone might ask how the hell the federal government gets the right to dictate local housing and development policy in the first place.

Obama’s HUD policies have destroyed Mesquite, TX in the last 10 years.

The Creek Crossing neighborhood where we lived has become a Section 8 stronghold for families moved from CA, IL, NY, & NJ while apartment communities are going up in other areas of the city.

On top of that the city of Dallas has been relocating it’s problem areas to the suburbs for years then reinvesting into hipster developments where those communities previously resided.

Crime is so bad the police no longer report or respond to gunfire unless property is damaged or civilians are injured leaving everyone feeling unprotected and the criminals free to roam the streets. Hell, even the dogs don’t bark anymore.

As decades-long residents move out, or die, their homes are being purchased by “investors” and immediately flipped to Section 8 furthering the societal collapse while, surprisingly, increasing rents.

It was recently estimated that 60% of the residents now in the area are Section 8 and that number continues to grow, along with the crime rate. Coincidence? ROTFLMAO (or ducking gunfire).

As a side note this feels to me more like an attempt to circumvent the electoral college by moving excess Dem controlled populations into the one remaining Rep big state of Texas in order to flip it blue.

Sadly, it appears to be working.

Freaky ties to Mesquite, TX: Both the Dallas Peace office shooter that killed 5 Dallas/Dart cops, and the Las Vegas shooter, had properties within the same neighborhood. One a home and the other a hanger at the regional airport.
