Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) praised President Trump's response after Iranian-backed militias breached the International Zone of Baghdad, known as the Green Zone, and attacked the U.S. Embassy on Tuesday.
The Department of Defense has sent around 100 U.S. Marines who are assigned to Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Crisis Response-Central Command to reinforce the embassy.
"The Department of Defense is working closely with the Department of State to ensure the security of our Embassy and personnel in Baghdad," Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said in a statement. "We have taken appropriate force protection actions to ensure the safety of American citizens, military personnel and diplomats in country, and to ensure our right of self-defense. We are sending additional forces to support our personnel at the Embassy."
Marines are tasked with protecting American embassies around the world. In addition to the reinforcements, AH-64 Apache attack helicopters are providing air cover to the embassy.

"Very proud of President [Trump] acting decisively in the face of threats to our embassy in Baghdad. He has put the world on notice - there will be no Benghazis on his watch," Graham tweeted. "To the Iranian government: Be careful what you wish for — a country that depends on the ability to refine oil for its existence needs to be cautious. President Trump, unlike President Obama, will hold you accountable for threats against Americans and hit you where it hurts the most. Choose your battles wisely."

To our Iraqi allies:
This is your moment to convince the American people the US-Iraq relationship is meaningful to you and worth protecting.
Protect our American personnel. You will not regret it.

The militias targeted the American Embassy after the U.S. conducted airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against Kataeb Hezbollah in retaliation for the killing of a U.S. contractor on Friday.
We're using APACHES now?!!?
Bet those wacky Iraqis ran off when they saw these dudes!
There’s a timeline that puts the whole thing together. Last week, some Iranian militia called Hezbollah (not the same as the one in Lebanon) mortared a couple of American FOBs and that killed an American contractor.
Trump then ordered a retaliatory strike, Sunday night, and F-15Es, Strike Eagles (which carry a Adam Schitt ton of ordnance), hit several of these Hezbollah camps in Iraq and Syria, killing a bunch (even their Iranian “vice commander”) and blowing up a huge ammo dump.
The Iraqi president got all hot under the collar and yesterday condemn our strikes. This really fanned the flames, as a few hours later, they staged protest that turned into an embassy takedown attempt. My sense is the Iraqi government was at fault and approved the initial protest, which quickly got out-of-hand. It was only after Trump called him and told him to knock it off or the US would “deal” with it that the Iraqi gov. sent their national guard in to stop it.
F the Iraqi President, the “protestors, Hezbollah and the Iranians! But in my opinion, the embassy attack is the Iraqi President’s fault.

From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of TRIPOLI.
I think Trump wants to do the right thing, but I wonder about the motivations of his military advisors.
No I’m not. Those were Marines on a peacekeeping mission, in an unguarded barracks except for two sentries out front. And they had unloaded weapons. It’s a very different reality today. The Beirut bombing is like box cutters on an airliner. It worked once, in peacetime. Try it again and see what happens.
Exactly!
Strzok was raised in Iran
Pages mother is Iranian
Are you serious?!?!
Strzok’s wiki page says his father was stationed in Iran and he attended an American school there. But Page — unbelievable, not, actually and sadly — has no Wikipedia entry. How is that even possible? (Her page redirects to Strzok’s).
What do you have against Graham, that he is a Bachelor?
Heres my list:
No hearings on the Kavanaugh debacle.
No subpoena for Schiff.
No subpoena for the whistleblower fraud.
Amnesty.
No subpoena for Comey
No subpoena for Brennan
Those will do for a start.

Try it again and see what happens.

All good points. Thanks for sharing that information.
Everyone has an axe to grind.
I don’t know this guy well, but he seems to think we don’t want to mix it up with Iran.
Folks, if we let Iran develop nuclear weapons and the missiles to launch them with, we will not be doing anyone any good.
Europe is too ‘adolescent’ to grasp what is going on with Iran, and the implications. Iran has already demonstrated a missile that can come close to the range needed for hitting Europe. What happens when they can mount nukes on them, and they have twenty of them ready to go?
The Iranian leadership is on a par with Kim in North Korea. They all seem to think they will not see death, and if they do they will be rewarded. Kim doesn’t care about a reward. I think he simply wants to be known as a bad ass.
It’s not easy to know what to do these day.
I note that after stating this group was a good group, now taking out ISIS, this guy had no answer when it was pointed out to him, that now they are against us too. He admitted that all those camps in Syria and Iraq were tied to the one problematic proxy Iranian group affiliated with the death of the contractor.
Moving on, he then tried to make it sound as if Bush holdovers were pushing Trump in the wrong direction, totally ignoring what had just been said. Trump had approved a strike against the right people for a justifiable cause.
Did anyone else catch that?
In these times, opinions are like a dime a dozen.
This guy did not impress me that he was on the level.
We are going to have to address Iran sooner or later, and it looks like many citizens in Iran would love to bring back a Western government.
If that were to be facilitated, Iran could easily give up the bomb. Go Western like the Shah did, and become a pretty decent entity in the region. It was under the Shah, until Jimmy Carter helped facilitate this Islamic state.
Right now it’s getting more and more bold. If we walk away and let it fester, it will become a major force for evil in the Middle East.
Every other nation in the region will be forced to develop nuclear weapons. Is anyone convinced that’s a good idea?
Hand those marines willie peter grenades. These Hezbollah jihadis will then run as fast as they can to the Red Sea with smoke billowing out of their arses.

And those are all after voting for amnesty and a permanent Democrat majority THREE times.
Guess all these Lindsay lovers want him to have a FOURTH try at giving our country away......
I believe this is the biggest US embassy compound in the world. It is a lot more than one building.
Do you always kick gift horses in the teeth?

Boots, my brother, Happy New Year....
RE Iran/Strozk/Page:
That is stunning news... but it does not surprise me.
OBunghole surrounded himself with these types of people.
Subversives, I believe they’re called.
And none of them are in jail yet.
You or I would be doing hard time for even the slightest infractions... and yet... there goes Brennan, Comey, Strozk, et al.
Sickening.
“...Why is this thread focusing on Linda? ...”
Because the article was in regards to a tweet from Graham.
...yeah, that too.
I do appreciate Trump not starting a full-blown war over this, plus, as in the title, “No Beghazis.”
