It can be true globally. Israel is the only one to make use of it on a national scale.

Up here in Jersey we can go as high as 100 degs. humidity at about 50 to 60% to -2 in winter. And I live about 8 miles from the ocean.

I’ve been in the tropics when the daytime temps hit 70 F (20+ years ago)with cloudy skies. The locals were wearing heavy sweaters and shivering.

Meanwhile, in SW Wisconsin, it has been in the 30s-40s, with a few days hitting 50 and we are loving it. Lower heating costs and more comfort. Very little snow, too. A few rainy days. March weather.

And it’s not a one-off. I’m 77 and this has happened before, just not as often as one would hope.

The temperature dropped to 50 degrees Fahrenheit at one point. Doesn’t anyone have a sweater?

Re: Desalination

The wealthy Persian Gulf nations have made significant investments in fresh water technology and infrastructure.

How that compares to Israeli technology, I do not know.

Most homes there don’t have central heating. Not gonna be a fun day.

Desalination is costly, but since the Saudis have petrodollars they operate large desalination plants.

I live in Florida. Anything below 65 degrees is cold, and below 50 is freezing.

I was in Key West for the winter of 1986 - 1987. Record cold snap that winter, all the way down to 48. Sears sold out of coats, sweaters, blankets and electric heaters......not that they ever had much of any of that in Key West.

Israel exports more than $2 billion USD in water annually.

. . . where authorities have told them they will have to take “shelter” in the water if the fires reach the shoreline!

I suspect the sharks are the authorities.
