I thought he was older than that.
No respect for the man

I used to listen to Imus on the way to work when I lived in NJ. Mister Rambos Neighborhood.
During the Clinton era he and his sidekick killed me with all the satire and humor and impressions.
RIP.
One of my favorites was the fake Clinton speech about Lewinsky: Ah nevah asked her to lie. Not once. It was far more comfortable for her on her knees.
But it was over the top offensive what he called the basketball players. Really wrong and he deserved firing for it. He knew better.
Now Wikipedia is calling him an outstanding racist.
I read somewhere that he had a pulmonary problem . Hope he didnt suffer. He was pretty special on the radio, when radio was our news source and with special programs such as his.
At one time Imus and the Wolf Man the two highest paid disc jockeys in the USA were on WNBC radio. Imus in the morning and the Wolf Man at night. I had a lot of fun listening to the banter. AM radio, fun and free.
Loved his “Imus Minus” awards during his brief TV years.
It was a miniature gold statue on a wood base—of just the REAR end of a horse.
I watched his show a few times when it was simulcast on MSNBC. I found it interesting be seemed a bit dull-brained to me. He just seemed to stumble through the show.
Looks like the nappy-headed dude met his maker. I truly hope he is resting in peace.
Well, I don’t care if it rains or freezes,
Long as I have my plastic Jesus Riding on the dashboard of my car.
I could go a hundred miles an hour Long, as I got the Almighty Power Glued up there with my pair of fuzzy dice.
He was brilliant
I used to listen to him on my three hour commute from Western MA to Portland Maine. He was a fun listen. He had great guests and he knew what was what in politics.
He never offended ME. And if he had, I would have stopped listening.
Imus was mostly a leftist, but an honest one. To me, “free speech” means Don Imus got to say whatever he wanted to say with no legal repercussions.
Most don’t remember that Imus cut a few comedy albums back in the day. He had one album of his prank calls on the radio, including the 1200 hamburger call. He also had one that included a bunch of his Billy Sol Hargus routines including the one where he asks the congregation if God talks to them.....”They’re going to lock your a$$ up....He don’t have time to talk to people. But He talks to me, and I talk to you”
He also did an album called “This Honky’s Nuts” - a direct response to Richard Pryor’s “That Nigger’s Crazy” album. The stuff he said on that album made the “nappy headed ho” comment that drove him off the radio sound like preschool talk. I used to have a copy, but don’t think I do any more - wonder if it’s still available? Talk about a snowflake trigger.
RIP, Quack Quack!
I’m sorry for his family. Imus did do some good charitable works but I never cared for him.
, He’s out there talking the way most of us talk when we’re not in public.
Funny thing though: Howard Stern said that if Imus talked on the air the way he did off the air he’d be unbeatable.
How many of us will like to go to their graves and have their whole life defined by one blunder?
Liked listening to him most of the time, but I always thought that the Ranch was a FRAUD....just like the Clinton’s Foundation!
I never liked Imus. He could be funny at times, disgusting at others.
I didn’t think the nappy headed hos thing was that big a deal. Mocking?, insulting?, shocking?, THAT was his JOB. His shtick.
What about Pollock jokes? Is that any different?
