Trump Issues Warning to California Governor About Homeless Crisis

President Trump warned California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday that he needs to fix the homeless crisis in his state or the federal government will have to step in.

“Governor Gavin N has done a really bad job on taking care of the homeless population in California,” he tweeted. “If he can’t fix the problem, the Federal Govt. will get involved!”

Governor Gavin N has done a really bad job on taking care of the homeless population in California. If he can’t fix the problem, the Federal Govt. will get involved! https://t.co/2z8zM37PUA— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 25, 2019

In an op-ed by the San Francisco Chronicle on Tuesday, the editorial board notes that the growth in the country’s homeless population is a result of California’s problem.

“While the latest counts compiled by the federal government show that America’s homeless population is growing again after more than a decade of declines, the entire national increase and more can be attributed to California alone,” the board writes.

Surprisingly, the editorial board also places the blame on Democrats.

“Although the state has the worst housing shortage on the U.S. mainland, resistance to dealing with it remains endemic among the Legislature’s ruling Democrats and in nominally progressive cities such as San Francisco,” they write.

Based on a January census widely believed to underestimate the true figures, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development reported Friday that the nation’s homeless population grew by about 15,000 people to about 568,000, or 2.7%. The number of Californians without homes, meanwhile, spiked by more than 21,000 to nearly 130,000, or 16.4%. The state’s exploding homelessness was enough to overwhelm declines in 29 states, among them Washington, Hawaii, Massachusetts and other states with substantial housing pressures.

While the nation’s homeless population remains about 10% lower than it was a decade ago, California’s has expanded more than 22% in that time. With less than an eighth of the U.S. population, California is home to more than a quarter of the nation’s homeless people and more than half those who are unsheltered. (SF Chronicle)

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson said last week that California’s homeless problem was at a “crisis level” and “needs to be addressed by local and state leaders with crisis-like urgency.”

“CA is basically up to the people of CA, NOT the feds.”

I agree. I don’t want Trump’s plan to include spending any of my money to fix that California problem.

"...Northern Virginia just needs to be made part of DC like it already truly is...." No, that governor should be removed from office, and the Federal government should enforce Federal Law to protect Virginian's 2nd Amendment rights. He - and the demonrats - need to be bitch-slapped and made to know their place. This Northam assclown and his cronies are conspiring and threatening to murder Virginians who refuse to comply with their illegal and unconstitutional gun control BS. See: 18 U.S. Code § 241. Conspiracy against rights 18 U.S. Code § 242. Deprivation of rights under color of law It's plain as day.

If you don’t know Trump’s understanding of the Constitution, then you shouldn’t comment on it. Don’t make false statements like he’s “weak on the Constitution.”

If Trump ends up having to do something about the communists in California, you can bet his action won’t be unconstitutional.

governor Newsome is party of Nancy Pelosi’s family (not just politically but personally too)

we can expect tons of lies,deceptions, slanders, and attempts to blame others for his own failures

it all runs in the family

(Newsome will NEVER help anyone find a safe home...never in a million years, Democraps only enable and promote more and more homelessness.....they consider it their voter base

IF PDJT can really help the millions of =street-people= find safe warm homes, WONDERFUL! Its not a federal responsibility but the crisis is so severe and the suffering so heartwrenching, I will gladly pay fed taxes and let the feds fix this horrible horrible suffering problem

however, can the feds actually fix it?
so far, almost everything the fed govt touches turns to more shit

and that’s the very last thing San FranShitco needs

There are a number of homeless populations:
1. the substance-addicted
2. the lazy
3. the ones that want/need to hide from creditors and child support obligations
4. the independent-minded

Kalifornia’s incompetence risks medieval disease outbreaks that could spread to other States. Typhus is back. Homeless people famously throw away their antibiotics and thus increase the risk of the spread of tuberculosis. I think one could argue that the Fed Govt could intervene if those fools, Newsome and his toadies, let things worsen. Though I think such intervention would have to include criminal malfeasance charges for those responsible.

People who paid $600,000 for a condo won’t like other people getting condos for $225/month rent.

Certain places need to understood as the ultimate luxury goods:
Paris, London, Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, San Francisco, etc.

In the 1940’s, apartments in Beverly Hills were often cheaper than those in Los Angeles.

Prime real estate is one of those things, like Van Gogh and Rembrandt paintings, that are desirable and limited in supply.

Not everyone can have a genuine Van Gogh painting in their living room.

Not everyone can live in California, even if they are willing to work three jobs.

Mayor Pete’s South Bend awaits the hard-working.

Why don’t you try backing up your assertions with actual support and rationale.

Trump has a small army of lawyers for the very reason he’s been in business not federal constitutional activity. He’s very careful not to talk much about substantive constitutional content.

His lawyers who obviously went to law school where they DON’T teach you the Constitution as written and originally understood and intended, may or may not know the subtle perversions of the Constitution that have taken place over the last 100 or so years.

But his lawyers are there at least to keep Trump form making an egregious constitutional error.

In the meantime, quit putting you “reasonisfaith” on fallible man. America is under the Rule of Law of the Constitution which facilitate freedom, NOT the rule of the whims of man which facilitates tyranny.

‘Northern Virginia just needs to be made part of DC like it already truly is.’

We left Fairfax County in the late 1960’s, and it was heading to being DC light at that time.

Most of our neighbors/friends left shortly after we did except for those who worked for the Federal Government.

Others, who moved away felt like we did, that everything changed after the MLK riots happened after he was killed.

What can he possibly propose for California that the leftists will accept, or that the leftists will allow to be implemented? For that matter, what can even be done, short of throwing out the leftist establishment... which isn’t happening.

Meanwhile, in Virginia he can promise support of 2nd amendment rights... support he’s fully capable of providing.

Sorry. Slippery Slope. This is CALIFORNIA'S problem, just like their underfunded pension plan is.

Then let’s change your position.

Earlier you stated “Trump is learning” about the Constitution.”

Let’s change that to “Trump is the best president in our lifetime when it comes to understanding and supporting the Constitution.”

Trump knows business but is weak on the Constitution (he’s in learning mode).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
?????
He adheres to the Constitution while the left tries to destroy it. You know, he has access to any number of constitutional lawyers.
