Former national security adviser John Bolton has suggested Donald Trump is bluffing about stopping North Korea from producing nuclear weapons in his most direct criticism of the presidents foreign policy yet.
Mr Bolton, who resigned from the Trump administration in September, accused Mr Trump of having more of a rhetorical policy on North Korea rather than a serious plan in an interview with the news website Axios.
The idea that we are somehow exerting maximum pressure on North Korea is unfortunately just not true, the former adviser said.
We're now nearly three years into the administration with no visible progress towards getting North Korea to make the strategic decision to stop pursuing deliverable nuclear weapons.
His comments come amid heightened tensions after a top North Korean official said the country would send a Christmas gift to the US in December.
It is thought that Kim Jong-un is planning to adopt a hardline anti-US policy, which would take denuclearisation off the table and abandon negotiations, according to a CNN report.
Mr Bolton told Axios that if North Korea defies the US, the Trump administration should admit its policy has failed and take a tougher approach on Mr Kims leadership.

There are a few o this site that do the same. It would be ok if they were not being never Trumpers when doing so. I am all for our President and will and do refer to him as Trump, DJT or PDJT but I very much dislike seeing just Trump/trump posted in a negative way. Especially here of all places.
Is Bolton working for NK now?
“I used that word to sound intellectual)”
The word I wheel out to sound intellectual is ‘zeitgeist’.
There was never a guarantee of accomplishment, but at least President Trump made the effort, which is more than any of us can say of any other President in recent history. He showed Kim Jong Un how his country could prosper through peaceful negotiations, and at least North Korea wasn’t lobbing missiles for a while...so there was some benefits from it. And who knows what the next five years could bring.
The North Koreans keep an ear to what is going on in Washington DC and the only news they get is from CNN. Which means, they only hear from people who are trying to weaken and destroy Trump, such as this prissy, mustachioed idiot.
Agree
“Solipsism” is a good one.
these men who go up the ladder of prominence and power... get in retaliatory stature when rebuffed.
they think they have it made and then wham..
judge nap for example also..
Because he wouldn’t do what Bolton wanted.

Of course not... the Chicoms!
Nearly 5 million people died. More than half of theseabout 10 percent of Korea's prewar populationwere civilians. (This rate of civilian casualties was higher than World War II's and Vietnam's.) Almost 40,000 Americans died in action in Korea, and more than 100,000 were wounded.
Im sure Bolton knows this. And the wiser Trump does as well.
I used to think Bolton had some sense. How disappointing.
John Bolton loves war & death. He never should have been in the Trump administration. Many of this promised this pyro/psycho was going to cause harm.
The solution is obvious: Peace treaty ending the Korean War, withdraw US troops from South Korea & North Korea will denuclearize. They have signaled repeatedly this is the end game & it is acceptable.
Bolton has always been an enemy of the American people. He is one weird guy, according to the details of his divorce, and he wants US troops dying in every conflict around the world. Just once I would like to see these warmongers willing to put their own lives on the line.
You have to read/hear exactly what Bolton said....not what the media is spewing.
This came from an Axios.com (lefist website) “exclusive” “interview”, almost all of which is a paraphrase of what Bolton purportedly said. It is obviously a hit piece and an attempt to harm Trump and divide Trump and Bolton. I will post the link in the next post:
