Orlando is closing out 2019 at about a tenth of a degree behind the hottest year on record for the city, which was 2015, according to the National Weather Service.
Overall, Central Florida temperatures this year are tracking along with much of the Florida peninsula, where cities from Jacksonville to Gainesville to St. Petersburg to Miami are likely to record their hottest or second-hottest years on record.
Since 2015, we have been warmer than normal consistently, said Derrick Weitlich, climate-program leader at the National Weather Service office in Melbourne. The majority of sites in our area have been in the top 10 or the top five warmest.
The average temperatures for Florida and Georgia from January through last month were the hottest ever observed for that 11-month period, according the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
And the Climate Prediction Center is forecasting December to be warmer than normal for most of the nation.
The average temperature for Orlandos record-setting 2015 -- a figure from the average of each days high and low temperatures -- was 75.6 degrees. The average temperature so far this is year is only about a tenth of a degree cooler.
But, said Weitlich, with 2019 nearly over, it likely will end as Orlandos second-warmest year. It would have to be a really strong cold period or really warm end of the month to change that, he said.

BS.
Remember children, hot weather is climate, cold weather is just weather.

Complete nonsense. BS.
How long is the record?
The sad thing is that all the records involve data manipulation. One trick they have is to move the sensors to hotter locations. Like next to blacktop. So we just don’t even know the real truth anymore.

More BS with manipulated data to reach the desired outcome.
Of course putting measuring stations in parking lots or not accounting for additional adjacent black top always helps. But nitwits dont look past the numbers.
Gee, I thought it was because the Devil took up residence on Disney properties.
I call BS because I live here. This summer was pretty mild and winter was quite normal. Back in the nineties we had the hottest summers I have experienced anywhere in the USA and warm winters with them.
Lol. Today may change the average immediately. It is rainy and cold in Orlando so there.
In other words, a new mini ice age — far more serious than "global warming". Ice age means crop failures and bitter cold winters and possible famine.
Remember this would be According to the Same CENTER of City record measurement/recording locations (for any long ‘historic’ data that’s where those numbers would HAVE to come from).
AND THAT IS WHERE there is more Concrete and Asphalt than ever before in History... Heat trapped by manmade structures, it would be VERY strange for the temperature to NOT be higher at those locations now.
A more generalized sampling likely shows something very different.
As usual these published claims all need to have references to the data involved in the determination — including WHERE ALL the data was collected and HOW it was chosen and analysed.
Destruction/changes to the swamplands in Florida also kinda skew the ‘historic’ data more than a little.
It sounds like you’re saying we’re in a cool down.
When I was a kid (in the Reagan years) we were told we were going to freeze to death.
It is beyond stupid that our past government has allowed us to become dependent on China for any critical raw material or finished product, especially with any military application at all.
