The White House is considering making the argument that President Trump has not officially been impeached, given that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has not transmitted the articles of impeachment to the Senate, two sources involved in the president's impeachment defense told CBS News.
The House voted to impeach Mr. Trump on two articles of impeachment abuse of power and obstruction of Congress on Wednesday. However, Pelosi told reporters on Thursday that the House would wait to deliver the articles until the Senate had laid out the rules for the trial.
"When we see the process that's set forth in the Senate, then we'll know the number of managers we'll have to move forward, and who we would choose," the California Democrat said. The House must vote on a resolution designating impeachment managers to prosecute the case against Mr. Trump in the Senate before delivering the articles.

We all know the far left is crazy. They just show it every day. What a Circus. Clowns to the left of me Clowns to the right . . . Clowns everywhere.
But all the White House has to do is say thery are considering it...and then sit back...
Why, indeed? Why didnt the Democrats just pass a resolution of censure? Whats the difference? Geez.
The House must vote on a resolution designating impeachment managers to prosecute the case against Mr. Trump in the Senate before delivering the articles.
I would be interested in just where they got this?
Maybe they shouldn’t have voted until they had
the managers.
Not quite.
The House has up to the end of the next Congress to send impeachment to the Senate.
......
That’s two more years.
........
That’s enough time for the Dems to try to get control of the Senate.
........
That’s the hustle Polosi and Schiff are up to.
........
Trump is impeached by the House for now, but not by Congress.
........
If Reps regain control of the House, they can nullify the unforwarded impeachment.
He should argue this, just because it will get under their skin.
The Senate should change the rules to say that only the Speaker of the House can be the “manager” and only the Speaker can present the case on the Senate floor during the trial. This could actually have the result of forcing her out of the Speakers chair, because the House Democrats likely won’t want her to be the one presenting the case.
Political payback is due.
instead of arguing it, why not just state it unequivocally and tell the Dems to prove it’s not true?
Only over conducting the trial. The senate can't force the house to abide by house rules or axiomatic principles of procedure.
Meanshile everybody has 1st amendment right to say what they think, and Mitch and POTUS are taking good advantage of that.
Yup. An impeachment that isnt forwarded can be revoked.
Anyone besides our domestic enemies at CBS reporting this?
The managers only present the impeachment to the Senate.
There is no prosecution, this is a legislative not a judicial process.
.........
Nah, the Senate can change the rules too. They can say that they won’t hold any impeachment trials if it takes more than 10 days for the House to present the articles after a vote.
And like I said above, they could also dictate who must present the case during the trial. Pelosi wants to play games, McConnell can play too. Force her to present the case herself. See if the House keeps her in the Speaker’s chair.
Read the Constitution. It says that the Senate has to immediately take up the debate.

IV. Sequence of events at the beginning of a trial...................9
1. First a message(s) from the House of Representatives
is received containing the information that the House
has voted impeachment, adopted articles, and appointed
managers. The Senate then adopts an order informing the
House when it is ready to receive the managers to
present the articles of impeachment.................... 9
I agree with you they should state it unequivocally. But ultimately it will still just be an argument. My personal opinion is, a POTUS is impeached once the House votes it. So personally I think he is impeached. But I see how others argue differently. Trump should state he isn’t impeached just to put pressure on them, to annoy them. But at the end of the day Pelosi and others (esp the media) will mock him for saying it. So likely Trump is weighing the politics of this argument.
Still I say, McConnell should change the rules a bit just to take the spotlight away from Pelosi, and to even embarrass her or force her out of the Speaker’s chair. Change the rules to say the trial must start no later than 10 days after the House vote, and that only the Speaker of the House can present the case on the floor of the Senate.
Make her pay a price.

Now two days later, I'm lookin' to pee on the flapjacks of those that jabbered their keyboard lips at me wailing TRUMP IS IMPEACHED!.
But I'll settle on reposting this gem from Freeper Bon mots:
Censure wouldn't appease the Democrat moonbat members OR Democrat moonbat base.
THEY believe that impeachment without conviction actually means something. Some of them ACTUALLY BELIEVE that Hillary is president now, and not a delusional drunk grandmother wandering in the woods.
This is more analogous Schrödinger's turtle than Schrödinger's cat. In both outcomes, the turtle lives.
Senate doesnt have to accept anything sent by the House. Its a sovereign body.
Theres nothing senators loathe more than House members telling them how to run their chamber.
Its NONE of Pelosis f*ckin business how the Senate manages its affairs.
I don’t believe what you have cited is the Constitution. You are citing the Senate rules, and it does not say “immediately” it says they have to “receive a message” and “appoint managers”.
Those rules can be changed on a simple majority vote.
I think you are mistaken. Impeachment comes from the House. Removal (conviction) comes from the Senate. Article II section IV of the Constitution uses the terms “impeachment” “removal” and “conviction”.
