Retiring GOP Rep. Mark Meadows has emerged as a leading candidate to replace acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, who has been unable to escape President Trump’s doghouse, according to a reports.

Mulvaney is expected to bolt from the administration after the Senate wraps up its impeachment trial, Politico reported, citing five administration sources.

And that leaves Meadows — the staunchly pro-Trump North Carolinian — as the president’s apparent “chief-of-staff in waiting,” according to the website.

They can keep the same monogrammed hand towels. That’s convenient.

It seems to me that President Trump’s Chiefs of Staff rotate through to oversee certain efforts- the right skill sets for the main mission, as it changes.

Kelly came in to get the wall and the Defense buildup going, Mulvaney came from OMB to get funding for the wall (essentially finished today when the President signs the 2020 appropriations).

The next major emphasis will be the elections - that will be Mark Meadows main mission.

Excellent Choice.
He knows who can be trusted in the House and who are the spies.

If I were Christopher Wray, I’d be worried about keeping my job once Meadows is the CoS.

I think Wray has one foot out the door already, he just doesn’t know it yet.

Meadows is my Congressman, and I hate to lose him, but he can probably do a lot more at Trump’s side than in the minority in the House right now.

Someone with the initials W.W. could have been considered, too.

What rumors are made of?? Any implications here. Mulvaney seems to like what he’s doing.

Chiefs of staff are expendable, good congressmen are not. Meadows is more important in the House in my opinion.

I dont get it either, Mulvaney was the guy who LITERALLY locked out the obama holdovers from entering the building. This is the first time I’ve heard he was a problem. I call fake news on this the Mulvaney angle..
