In a series of tweets, the president accused the Democrats of not wanting to go to trial because their "case is so bad".
He tweeted: "So after the Democrats gave me no Due Process in the House, no lawyers, no witnesses, no nothing, they now want to tell the Senate how to run their trial. Actually, they have zero proof of anything, they will never even show up. They want out. I want an immediate trial!"
The president said the Democrats did not want Congressman Adam Schiff, who led the impeachment process, the Bidens and a CIA whistleblower who sparked the inquiry to testify.
The Democrats have argued that it is Mr Trump's Republicans who are balking at the appearance of witnesses. The House did also invite the president to testify before its investigators but he declined to do so.

My prediction is that McConnell sets a deadline for transmission of the articles, and if they’re not transmitted, then they are dismissed with prejudice by the Senate without a trial for lack of prosecution.
McConnell can just say that the House has failed to impeach (bring any charges) and the Senate will not consider the ones Pelosy refused to file
if the House wishes to bring any charges they have to do it correctly starting over
which she will do, of course, but so what?
writ of mandamus peolsi for the goods
Dimocrats are all about feelings and perception so they are so far content that they IMPEACHED President Trump and that’s all they need to do as they likely think they have tarnished his reputation beyond repair. And with this they believe they can deny him any more SC picks thus ending abortion in America and the reshaping of the federal judiciary.
It will only disgust more people who will turn against the party, and that's nothing but a win-win!
Yes, good quotes from BBC, and not in fine print or network voice *
Here’s what I think went down.
I think Pelosi was losing the 31 Dems from districts that voted Trump and perhaps a few more. A failed or very close vote would have looked bad for them. So she brought all of the wavering Dems save 3 back on board by promising that once it passed she would not actually transmit the articles to the Senate.
Another lame attempt to have their cake and eat it too.
Deadline should be midnight tonight. Not one minute longer.
The Dems wanted to act like assh*les, we should TREAT them like assh*les.
That would be amusing, but that would imply that the Senate can't do anything until the Articles are sent over. She'd refuse, so then it would be all tied up in the courts.
I'd personally prefer having the Senate dismiss the Articles if the House refuses to send them over in a timely manner, which I'd set as 70 days out under the speedy trial standard.
make scotus force nanny Pelosi to turn it oveah!
the deadline should be before the lsu Oklahoma peach bowl game on dec 28.
I’m going to be bold and ask to what degree did the following cooperate with this attempt at forcing Trump out of office:
soros. The “Pope.” bammy. Wishing there were a way to find out.
He is posturing, which makes sense. There will not be a trial in the Senate.
With all due respect Buckeye, I’m not sure that is very plausible.
Look at it this way, the VOTE of those 31 democrats in a Trump won district is what matters. Regardless, they did vote to impeach President Trump. They are now on the record.
Republican challengers need to make as much as much hay as possible from the incumbent’s votes, so the voters know it was a vote against their presidential choice.
Even if the House democrats now back off completely, the vote is on record, sealed in stone.
I think SCOTUS would duck it as a political question, and say it is up to the Senate to decide how to proceed. The typical remedy for a failure to prosecute is dismissal.
Theyre doing a fine job peeling off Indies to land in Deplorable column.
that’s basically what Levin is saying, not sure how long..
Sounds serious. Is it catching and fatal?
