FedEx man was committing armed robbery?
Hurrah!
Driver is alive but he’ll be fired. Why steal packages where the contents are covered?
Standby for the FedEx driver, when he recovers FRom his wounds, to be fired FRom FedEx and arrested for carrying!
It is Philly!
Better outcome than the poor UPS driver.
He delivered!
This act of self defense will be duly entered in the “gun violence” database to push the cause of civilian disarmament.
a fed ex delivery guy was shot and killed near there many years ago. The local office had a plaque in the lobby on spring garden before they moved the office.
Ah, this must be one of the reasons why my FedEX ground stuff that I order comes 2-4 days beyond what I receive from the buyer as a delivery date....../s
I hope FedEx gives him a great bonus! Maybe FedEx and UPS need someone riding shotgun like in the old days on stages.
Philly ping!
It was bound to happen. Package thefts off people’s porches have been increasing for several years, and now the robbers are going after delivery truck drivers. And it’ll only get worse as online shopping continues to grow.
And I’m not one who thinks that delivery by driverless vehicles and drones will be a good answer. The thieves will really get creative to rob those things.
thank god he was armed.
Well done Driver
I would like to read his FedEx employment contract.
There is a high probability he signed a contract that explicitly states he cannot carry a gun while on the job.
FedEx may be afraid to fire him, but legally, no one forced the driver to accept the job or to sign the contract.
Street name is Unruh. German family name meaning unrest, disturbance, not-peace.
If this story is accurate, driver not defending packages, but his life.
Compare that outcome with one where only the police and the bad guys had guns and they tried the same thing with a UPS driver:

200 shots fired, two innocent bystanders killed.
I hope that FedEx or the subcontractor allows the driver to keep his job. At least he gets to keep his life.
We’ll be watching FedEx...
