CULPEPER, Va. (AP) — A Virginia sheriff has vowed to deputize county residents if the new Democratic majority in the state legislature passes gun control measures.

“Every Sheriff and Commonwealth Attorney in Virginia will see the consequences if our General Assembly passes further unnecessary gun restrictions,” Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins wrote on Facebook. “I plan to properly screen and deputize thousands of our law-abiding citizens to protect their constitutional right to own firearms

I grew up in Hampton in the 50s and early 60s.
I went to Hampton High where I brought my Remington .22LR bolt action with me to class in Tuesdays (for firearms safety) and Thursdays (for marksmanship). The school admin required us to carry the guns from class to class, because they were afraid of theft if we stored them in our lockers.

Virginia has really gone down hill on sanity.

To paraphrase Obama, they bring unconstitutional laws and you bring a weapon.

(as if he ever gave one thought to the U. S. Constitution)

How about this for an “activity”

Defending the 2nd Amendment Day

- Pick a day in the summer when most hunting seasons are closed. The days should be mid-week.

- Encourage all gun owners to take [at least one of] their guns out on the front porch and just sit there with the gun on your lap. Beverages are optional, I like iced tea.

- Stay there until dark, watching the world go by. Hail and converse with your neighbors. Answer their questions. Invite them up for a glass of tea. Show them that you are responsible.

- If some DB calls the local constabulary and they show up, greet them heartily.

- If they enter your property, politely tell them that they must leave their firearms in their vehicle before setting foot on your private property. “I’m sorry officer, for my personal safety, I don’t let unknown firearms on my property. In accordance with State law, I must insist. You do have the option to leave if you don’t wish to comply with my lawful request. Thank you.”

No.

This can’t be run away from. For one, if people do try, it’ll just follow them. Locusts eat up their own lands then move to where the land was better managed then start eating that up too.

If you don’t have the iron to do what’s required now, you wont then either.

This is our land. All of it. We settled it. We built it. We made it strong. The cancer that is making it weak needs to be dealt with.
