This person has a legitimate appeal of the sentence based on excessive punishment clause of the 8th amendment. He should sentenced for theft and property damage but not arson nor “reckless use of explosives”.

Yeah, the sentence may be a little harsh. If you want to go out and buy a gay flag and burn it on your property that is fine.
Go on someone else property and burn their gay flag (property); that is arson, so I not going to support his actions.

This will never stand up on appeal.. No way 15 years for burning a flag????
