Universal suffrage was a classic Trojan horse; how many times has this tactic been used? I wonder if the documented event actually occurred, or has it always been just an allusion, a warning to future generations wrapped in a myth?
It's easy to see the appeal and rationale of the various points made in favor. Fairness, inclusion in debates about public policy, a more just society allowing everyone to participate in the American dream, etc.
All lies of course; just a hidden troop of Greeks waiting to break out behind the front lines. There never was any intention of assimilation, of adopting equal rights and full participation as "Americans". It was always a plot about waiting for the right moment to gain an electoral advantage, and then turn the tables on their hated oppressors.
I don't necessarily fault them for their shared sentiment; I mean, I'd be resentful as well if I was an ugly, low status loser. But, it's not our problem to worry about them; rather, it's our duty to protect ourselves from them, to recognize their deep seated fury and hatred at what winners represent. And so, systems of government have historically excluded certain groups from decision making ability for exactly the reasons we're now experiencing first hand.
Live and learn. After the next domestic conflict, the winners are going to have to re-write certain constitutional elements and laws regarding voting rights.

FWIW, the constitution does not mandate universal suffrage. It just says that the right (privilege) of voting shall not be denied on certain bases, those being race or sex.

Hard to acquit when an official impeachment has been voted on. Make the DEMs commit, then as quick as possible get this through the Senate and vote to acquit. I know there are many who would love for Trump spill the beans on everyone, but he hasn't so far. Besides, it just prolongs the charade and gives the DEMs a chance to manufacture more BS. The DEMs really do want the GOP to vote this down so they can use it as campaign fodder. Without it, they really don't have a message for America other than socialism.

EVERY demon rat who speaks today to promote these faux articles -based on lies and the imagination of their seditionist leaders- should be shamed, impeached for aiding and abetting sedition, and those who merely vote for these sham fabrications from the demented malignant mind of Schiff et al, should be voted out of offive in shame! Not being capable of discerning the lies, they should be barred from even running for any office local, state or federal.

The sole reason the demon rats are going through with this diabolical sedition is the ability to divide and conquer on a largest scale. We had better pray enough Christians get angry enough to go vote, in every district in America, because if we the people allow this sedition against THE CONSTITUTION to slip along like we allowed the lying bastard hemorrhoid Barry Soetoro to be sworn in as a president, then the Republic as ruled by actual law has ended.

The problem with today is, even if this doesn’t stand and the Senate tosses it out in a few weeks, everything has now changed. We no that there is no compromise available with our political opposition, there is no place of meeting or agreement, even on basic principles, the kind that founded the nation. There is now nowhere to go other than open conflict...one side or the other must be completely destroyed. There will be no agreement on even basic governing principle. That’s why I called what is happening today The Valley of the Shadow of Death for American politics. It is exceedingly sad and troubling.
For one thing, the Democrats have taken a sledge hammer to the Constitution, again. They’ve rendered the impeachment clause a dead letter. It’s all about politics and political advantage now. No president will ever fear or respect it again...not if they have political power on their side. They can commit any crime they wish with that power and do anything they want to the Constitution or to the people...the citizens...and fear nothing. Because now a president ha been impeached for nothing but sheer hate by the party with power. Impeachment is now meaningless...now it’s not about something real, it’s about nothing at all, and the next Leftist president will run over his enemies with no fear of any retribution. We are ripe for dictatorship after today. And that’s why this is a black day.
