FISA court slams FBI over surveillance applications, in rare public order
Fox News ^ | 17 December 2019 | Andrew O'Reilly, Bill Mears

In a rare public order Tuesday, the chief judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court [FISC] strongly criticized the FBI over its surveillance-application process, giving the bureau until Jan. 10 to come up with solutions, in the wake of findings from Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz.

The order, from the court's presiding judge Rosemary M. Collyer, came just a week after the release of Horowitz's withering report about the wiretapping of former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, as part of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

"The FBI's handling of the Carter Page applications, as portrayed in the [Office of Inspector General] report, was antithetical to the heightened duty of candor described above," Collyer wrote in her four-page order. "The frequency with which representations made by FBI personnel turned out to be unsupported or contradicted by information in their possession, and with which they withheld information detrimental to their case, calls into question whether information contained in other FBI applications is reliable."

Shut it down today, pending further investigation (make that permanent). How many other FISA hoaxes have the Dems got going right now? We are in election cycle again, and they have already shown that they are above the law. Suspend Judge Rudy Contreras while we're at it.

The point is that they were in on it. They just didn’t care, thinking the Cheeky Hildabeast would have won.

That court is a disgrace. They’ve done absolutely nothing for years despite common knowledge they were defrauded.

They should have issued a show cause order way back when.

Abolish the FISA and FISC.

The court could effectively refuse any application submitted by the DOJ due to a lack of standing before the court. Continue to do so until the DOJ cleans it’s house of political operatives. Notify the DOJ when it’s measures taken to satisfy the court are proven to be sufficient.

Synonymous as far as I am concerned. At least presumed intellectually corrupt. The systems are all rotten, and so what is anybody going to do about it?

The FISA judges appear to be as vigilant as Col Klink. The FBI could tell them they’re investigating Generalisimo Francisco Franco for internet fraud and they’d sign it.

To suggest Chief Justice Dread Pirate Roberts has no connection, direct or indirect, to FISC is, well....absurd.

btw, Chief Justice Dread Pirate Roberts is the one who appoints judges to the FISA court – every last one of them including judges like Rudolph Contreras, who granted a previously denied Michael Flynn FISA warrant.

This leaves no wiggle room for Comey. Other FBI officials who signed off on the Carter Page applications must be sweating bullets.

Lady justice twitched. That is it. Amazing? Yes. She probably started reading FISA court applications referencing Free Republic, and got a pulse when she read what we are posting here!

Keep it up everyone!

Sad you didn't read/re-post my entire comment.

But that's OK...in a kind of a selective way. So here it is again...and ciao.

I think I speak for ALL FReepers when I say "THIS IS JUST 'CYA' BY THE FISA COURT!"..

After ALL they've heard, including FOIA request releases by Judicial Watch the FISA court is going to play DUMB, like they didn't know they were being REPEATEDLY LIED TO? HAHAHAhahaa Hahahahaaa... yeah right.

The FISA court was PART of the Coup-Conspiracy from DAY ONE.

I worked for four years as a lawyer with/for Rosemary Collyer in a previous position of hers (nominated by President Reagan and confirmed by the Senate). I have utmost respect for her.

The progression of deep state swamp rot is proven to be severe. On a graph I think the axis points of x and y, x being integrity and y being time, has their intersecting points meet the longer you dwell in D.C.

Question to a lawyer person on Free Republic that really knows Federal Law and the FISA court.

The FISA court today has well laid out the fraud that was committed against the court. Aside from laying out the offense what can this court legally do to address the fraud and correcting this offense against the innocents that were caught up in this fraud.

If you are not skilled lawyer most knowledgeable of Federal Law please do not comment.

ps
I am just a geologist, chemist and pharmacist. I think I do understand the constitution. I do not understand the legality of the FISA Courts. I think they are illegal. It most reminds me of the old courts of the USSR with their show trials combined with the extreme efficiency of the East German Stasi which was their FBI without restraint.

Some years ago when the FISA courts happened I debated with a friend of mine (also a hard core constitutionalist as I) and I expressed my fear that this court can be used for great good. I also expressed my fear that the potential for bad was far worse than its potential for good. We agreed and were right.

The FISA court must be disbanded. It is a danger to the Constitution.
