The White House and Republicans pushed back on Monday at Sen. Chuck Schumer’s proposal to call witnesses - including former national security adviser John Bolton and acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney - to testify at President Trump’s expected impeachment trial in the Senate.
“Let us hope that fairness will prevail” a laughable quote from @SenSchumer this AM….after the dems release an ‘impeachment report’ in the middle of the night,” White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham wrote on Twitter. “Thankfully the people of this country continue to see the partisan sham that this is.”
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), who would serve as a juror in the Senate impeachment trial against Trump, said Democrats had their chance to call Bolton and Mulvaney during their investigation in the House that led to two articles of impeachment - for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

Looks like all Schiffty had to do was to advance the narrative with secret testimony and no witnesses. I wouldn't be surprised if 'new' allegations pop up in the next few weeks.
Around 2040, historians will go back to this ‘shifty-era’ and discuss how all of this control and marginalization gutted public trust. People will ask...how did these people screw up so badly, and there just won’t be any answer.

Going to court to try to compel testimony from people under executive privilege would have been unsuccessful and would have given the public time to cool of and think about things, both of which would have spoiled the Democrat con job

You may be right but I feel that the "deep state", unelected bureaucrats, will not let the Democrat Party or the democrats fail.
They fear the light and after Trump wins 2020, the attacks will go up exponentially.
They have to smear or kill him or face another republican president in 2024.

In my opinion, only one person should be called....and that's the whistle blower. His identity is an absolute must. This iscalling for the removal of the President of the United States.....not some CEO of a chem company dumping poison into a river.
