Officials said Saturday that Rep. Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, a vocally anti-impeachment Democrat, will join the Republican Party in the coming days following a Friday meeting with President Trump a move that would put a political chill on the Democrats expected vote to impeach Trump next week.
Two Democratic officials familiar with Van Drews discussions in recent days said they believe he has decided to switch parties. The White House meeting was confirmed by a Trump administration official and one of the Democratic officials.

So called diversity in the Dem partly is purely cosmetic...
Jr called for it:

Also of course, this is Trump’s old Atlantic City district. One can only imagine...
Can this guy be trusted? How do we know he isn’t a plant?
Jeff votes like a barking moonbat. The vote against impeachment was the one, singular time he broke with Pelosi. So, either he is a "team player", willing to ignore his constituents and vote however he is told, or he is a barking moonbat who knows he will be defeated in 2020, and will do anything to keep his job. Neither of those things say "integrity" to me...
It baffles me how anyone could be a Democrat today. I try to rationalize it, see things from their point of view, but it always ends in a roadblock that makes zero sense. There is absolutely no upside to it. Free everything, free healthcare, free college, which would be fantastic but how can anyone believe that it’s doable in a country with 330 million with wide open borders? It would bankrupt the country, taxing the rich would reduce investment, jobs would disappear, the rich would disappear, yet this is what the front runners of the Democrap party Bernie Sanders,Elizabeth Warren and their supporters want to do. They are either incredibly stupid which I find hard to believe because they don’t seem like they have any mental deficiencies like mental retardation, or they are absolutely insane.
Well, treat him like a mushroom till he prove reliable.
Votes are what counts, and other than his one vote against impeachment, he has voted with Pelosi every single time. He knows he is going to lose in November, and this is his desperate plan to save his skin. I like that he is poking the dems in the eye, but this is self preservation, not a principled stand.
Probably not many, to none.
Not necessarily. He was a DemocRat. Now the Rats won’t vote for him and conservatives won’t trust him. Remember Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords?
Another Rino in the making.
Yup. Had he switched right after Trump won, thatd be quite different. Now, after Horowitz and Barr...nah.
Wow, certainly bad optics for Pelosi.
Great, now they’ll be another article of impeachment added for tampering.
Several have, the most prominent over the past couple of decades has been Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell from Colorado. He switched from Democrat to Republican in 1995. He was only two years into his first term and won another term as a Republican before retiring.
Mr. Van Drew didn’t leave the rat party. The rats left him. Think about how crazy and unglued they’ve become. No sane person would want to be a part of that.
Also, Ben Nighthorse Campbell, an Indian (real one) from Colorado.
Ding, Ding, Ding - we have a winner. If he was for limited government and fidelity to the Constitution, he would never had been a demotard to begin with.
There was a mass exodus of rats to the GOP in the early 90s, and all it did was move us a little further to the left. While such moves are encouraging on the surface, there's usually some buyer's remorse, and the situation is difficult to correct. For example, if somewhere down the road, an actual conservative runs against him, the RNC will throw all of their money and weight behind the incumbent. They look no further than the "R", and couldn't care less if it stands for "Republican" or "RINO".
He sounded sensible on Tucker Carlson and Maria’s shows.
I know, surprising...
