Virginia National Guard responds after Democratic lawmaker suggests it may be needed to enforce gun control measures

The Virginia National Guard on Friday responded to a Democratic lawmaker after he suggested that it may be needed to enforce new gun legislation.

The remarks from Rep. A. Donald McEachin (D-Va.) suggesting that Gov. Ralph Northam (D) “may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law” comes as dozens of counties across Virginia have declared themselves “Second Amendment sanctuaries” after Democrats took over the state legislature last election.

"We have received multiple questions regarding proposed legislation for the 2020 General Assembly session and the authority of the Governor of Virginia to employ the Virginia National Guard in a law enforcement role,” the Virginia National Guard wrote in a statement posted on Twitter Friday.

“We understand and respect the passion people feel for the U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights. We will not speculate about the possible use of the Virginia National Guard,” it added.

Northam had previously hinted that should the Democratic-controlled state legislature pass stricter gun legislation and law enforcement not follow it, there would be consequences.

"If we have constitutional laws on the books and law enforcement officers are not enforcing those laws on the books, then there are going to be some consequences," Northam said Thursday, according to WSET.

"But I’ll cross that bridge if and when we get to it," he added.

That is true, but the supremacy clause over-rules state constitutions if said constitution violated the US constitution.

The real world works differently than what we would like to see happen.

People follow orders. If not, you’d have never had millions of people being exterminated by Nazis, communists, and other socialists.

There will be pain, either way.

Of course. And if these laws are passed and they go forward with enforcement there will be some cops and Sheriff’s that will do what they’re being asked to do.

Then again, as we’re already seeing there will be many who won’t. Look what happened in New Orleans. NOPD started walking off the job. And of course, two Democrats, Nagin and Blanco, asked for help, received it and Bush was too incompetent to see what was going there and didn’t stop it. She’s dead and he went to prison.

But, I think it’s quite the stretch to compare what the German’s, Russian’s, Chinese, and Cambodians did to what a Virginia National Guard soldier might do. Those troops had to worry about their families, if they had one, being executed if they didn’t follow orders. Those folks grew up in Socialist, Totalitarian regimes. Not the USA. I don’t see that being the case in the Commonwealth.

But yes, there will be pain.

This is about as teachable a moment as one can get for what would have been in store for the country had she won. And what will be in store for the country if he isn’t re-elected.

Human nature is what it is, friend. Anyone is capable of anything egregious.

Did you ever in your lifetime imagine a large part of this country willingly supporting an open communist for President??? For that matter, putting a non-vetted muslim into the highest office of the land?

We’re in a different time now. The other side saw their Bolshevik 2.0 party slip away from them with the Witch getting her ass handed to her, and they lost what little minds they had.

I put nothing past them.

You’re not referring to Ted Bundy the serial killer, are you?

I witnessed human nature when I was cop and saw how brutal people could be to each other, I get that.

As for supporting a communist and a non-vetted muslim. Maybe not the muslim part, but that whole thing was orchestrated by the media and its puppet masters. As for supporting communism, I have seen it. I went to UMASS, late 80s into early 90s. It seemed like every week, was Coming Out Week, with all the homosexuals walking around campus with their pink and lavender bandana’s, making out. Sadly for them, they were the only ones that cared. The rest of us just wanted to grab a quick bite to eat, in between class, at the Student Union. Then, at least once a month, the hippies and students would march around campus demanding no tuition and for the school to stop taking Defense Dept money for research.

There will be some that will side with the government. We all saw it during Katrina and the Gun Grab there.

Especially Patricia Konie.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YhvV2uz10eA&feature=emb_title

I just times are different now. Just my opinion.

We’re on the same side, brother. I just have less faith in people, I think. The only faith I have is in 5.56mm and 7.62, and that’s about it.
