President Trump has been discussing with his campaign advisers whether or not to participate in the general election debates in 2020, two people close to the situation told The New York Times.
According to the sources, Trump doesn't trust the Commission on Presidential Debates, the nonprofit organization that puts on the debates. Specifically, Trump is apprehensive of who will be chosen by the organization to moderate the debates, the Times reports.
Trump's campaign reportedly declined to comment on what their plan was for the debates at a state-of-the-race campaign briefing in Arlington, Va.
During the 2016 campaign, the president persistently complained about his debates with former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, claiming that he was put at a disadvantage.

If FOX got a debate it would be Pissy Wallace, bet on it.
OTOH it’d be fun to see Creepy Joe fumble and Cankles flubbering all over the place about global warming and islamophobia and open borders, etc.
“two people close to the situation told The New York Times”
right. because The Slimes would be the first place a Trump campaign honcho who was really in-the-know would leak too ...
all anonymously sourced rumors should be considered fabricated “news” if/until a named official goes on the record ...
Just hold rallies. Dont give these commies a forum.
If Hillary ends up the nominee, just re-run the 2016 debates. Follow up with promises kept.
I don’t know. It depends on the nominee. I think the more people who see Warren the more people won’t like her.
Well they gave the witch the questions last time even though they thought she had it in the bag who knows what they will do this time.
“Sounds like a negotiating tactic. POUTS is just throwing jabs at Fake News.”

Yup, floating trial balloons and punking the media at the same time.
Whether he does or not its a good idea to make the media wonder.
This is brand new territory! The dims are HORRIBLE in brand new territory! They’ll make mistakes, since they are checker players on the POTUS chess board. This is innovative! This is genius!
Great idea!...lol..the Dems could beat up on eachother and the moderator could pick the winner by the softball or hardball questions they asked of each...
are Rachel Madcow and Jim Acosta available as Mods??..they both are known as honest and hard hitting journalists...should be fun to watch..Id tune in....../s,
I like your thoughts on this.
Also remember, that Twitter may block his tweets.
This is a NEGOTIATING POSITION. The networks are scheming to sandbag trump with biased moderators and debate setup.
So threaten to skip them. Doesnt mean he will.
Just gives better cards in his hand to negotiate.
I hate that guy. Pretends to be hard-hitting on both sides, but soft-pedals it for Democrats while he attacks President Trump (and unnecessarily so). Wallace is a jerk doing the Democrats bidding.
I think he should hold a rally every time a debate is scheduled!
Early negotiating position on who will run the debates.
Good idea at this point, because I wouldn’t even trust Fox to host a debate, given that Donna Brazille likely would tip off the RAT nominee as to the questions.
Has any other incumbent president done this?
It would certainly be a shock for many, though I get why he may not consider ‘debates’ necessary.
We rarely allow the candidates to have a full on, honest debate these days. The moderators will often spoon feed certain remarks or responses to their favored candidate.
Those same moderators will experience ‘spontaneous deafness’
when the opposing candidate scores a few points.
As some have stated, this is probably a negotiating tactic by Trump. The media and the DEMs need to have Trump debate far more than Trump does. Watch the left suggest FIVE debates. If Trump is actually thinking about skipping the presidential debates, I wouldn’t blame him one bit.
