It would certainly be a shock for many, though I get why he may not consider ‘debates’ necessary.
We rarely allow the candidates to have a full on, honest debate these days. The moderators will often spoon feed certain remarks or responses to their favored candidate.
Those same moderators will experience ‘spontaneous deafness’
when the opposing candidate scores a few points.
Plus the dem will gave the questions beforehand...bet on it!
Shocks are good—they keep the Democrats off guard and gets their media hacks to scream wildly and incoherently (while complaining that Trump is not acting Presidential). ;-)
