McConnell: I’d ‘Be Totally Surprised’ if Trump Is Removed
Breitbart ^ | 12/10/2019 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 12/11/2019 5:59:56 AM PST by ChicagoConservative27

During a press conference on Tuesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said that he “would be totally surprised” if 67 members of the Senate voted to remove President Trump.

McConnell stated, “I said I would be totally surprised if there were 67 senators to remove the president. That remains my view. However, we are obligated under the Constitution to turn to it when it comes over. And we will.”

He needs to be defeated next time he runs for office

No. He has been instrumental in getting the President's judicial appointments confirmed.

Not a ringing sound of confidence

Worse, it's shamefully non-supportive of his President.

A lot of pearl-clutching snowflakes on this thread. Relax, guys. The best the Democrats can hope for is to claim a “moral” victory by getting more than 50 votes, and even that is unlikely and would be meaningless anyway. McConnell knows this, and is going to use the trial to do as much damage to the Democrats as possible.

Wrong. Behaving distant, aloof, and neutral will not prevent Rats from complaining about a rigged Senate process. Complaints and whining from Rats are guaranteed regardless, that’s why we need to learn to go for the throat all the time.

No witnesses from either side is what he said. That means no trial.

Actually that means days of only the democrat floor managers telling their narrative and not allowing any rebuttal from Trump. Mitch wants to back stab Trump. He doesn't want Trump as the 2020 candidate. Mitch is a Pierre Delecto fan.

McConnell was also instrumental in repealing obamacare, getting Trump’s fed picks confirmed, the outstanding Ratcliffe to DNI, etc. Oh, wait. He wasn’t.

Somebody’s forgetting that removal or a president requires two separate votes in the Senate, one for guilt or innocence and another for removal.

Nonsense!

These RINOs who will NOT support funding something as important as “The Wall” to defend our sovereign border would not hesitate to convict.

RINOs loyalty is not to America or to patriotic voters.

It’s not rocket science...

All those pale in comparison to the direct and lasting results of McConnell’s actions concerning judicial appointments going back to 2016. McConnell has been instrumental in a remaking of the Judiciary which will last for a generation.

So if enough never Trumpers emerge from the shadows, and the impeachment sham is actually successful, exposing the majority of the higher levels of government willing to go to extreme lengths to protect their criminal activity, leaving a major percentage of the population without a voice, what are we left with, but an instant totalitarian government.

That remains to be seen. Count those judicial chickens if you wish. I won’t be given the history of GOP noms. I won’t be because history is littered with bad GOP picks. Blackmun, Souter, Kennedy, etc.

And McConnell and the GOP Senate denying a POTUS of their own party the DNI of his choosing while he is under an IC coupist assault is indeed “beyond the pale.”

A quick vote in the Senate - to summarily dismiss all of the Articles of Impeachment - would be a good thing. And it would be entirely within the existing rules of the Senate and the Constitution.

A trial never really exonerates anyone. A dismissal is better than an acquittal.

I believe it is a foolish hope to suppose that a "trial" in the Senate would expose Democrat criminal activities. Almost certainly, the proceedings would be limited to debating the charges against the President. And there are at least 10 Republican Senators who will side with the Democrats on rules that would prevent the President from counter-attacking his accusers.

If anonymous votes were permitted, I believe a conviction might even be possible. "Obstruction of Congress" is not a definable crime, but it would serve as suitable excuse for removing President Trump. The Gravy Train must continue to run at all costs.

A conviction and removal inevitably puts this country into hot civil war, since it establishes that elections do not really matter when Democrats fail to win them. The Leftists do not care. They believe they can win a hot civil war.

McConnell, by his weasel-worded remarks, appears to be setting up for a "Grand Bargain" where President Trump approves some very unfavorable laws in exchange for an acquittal and severely impaired prospects for re-election.

Increased immigration, expansion of the H1B program, curtailment of the "wall" and other border enforcement actions, and inattention to the massive vote fraud being planned by the Democrats in the swing states are all on the table.

If they really try to physically remove Trump fro office let me refer everyone to former navy SEAL Craig “Sawman” Sawyers open letter from a year or so ago. I think he used the words “gruesome massacre” and that it would only take a few hours to restore order.

Remember this is not a legal or constitutional impeachment.

Hmmm...don’t be! Perhaps the best thing that can happen is the Turtle and the other RINOs in the Senate vote to remove Trump. Then he wins the election in a landslide and they get run out of town!
