A bill establishing a religious test for immigrants has passed the lower house of Parliament, a major step for Modi.
India took a major step toward the official marginalization of Muslims on Tuesday as one house of Parliament passed a bill that would establish a religious test for migrants who want to become citizens, solidifying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu-nationalist agenda.
The measure would give migrants of all of South Asia’s major religions a clear path to Indian citizenship — except Islam. It is the most significant move yet to profoundly alter India’s secular nature enshrined by its founding leaders when the country gained independence in 1947.
The bill passed in the lower house, the Lok Sabha, a few minutes after midnight, following a few hours of debate. The vote was 311 to 80. The measure now moves to the upper house, the Rajya Sabha, where Mr. Modi seems to have enough allies that most analysts predict it will soon become law.
..The legislation goes hand in hand with a contentious program that began in the northeastern state of Assam this year, in which all 33 million residents of the state had to prove, with documentary evidence, that they or their ancestors were Indian citizens. Approximately two million people — many of them Muslims, and many of them lifelong residents of India — were left off the state’s citizenship rolls after that exercise.

That should have been sufficient and then some, however Islam/muslims do not recognize ‘borders’ anywhere in the world...the Nations/States are to be conquered according to Islam and it’s Leadeership then and now.....
Nevertheless ..good on India for drawing the line for citizenship...more countries need to do just that.

Why allow the persecutors to follow those who’ve escaped their persecution?
The Islamic conquest India resulted in millions of Hindus and Buddhist slaughtered. Entire temple cities were destroyed by the Muslim hordes.
India ceded Pakistan to the Muslims in the desperate hope Muslims would leave India alone.

the major religions are socio-political worldview philosophies. Like Marxism.

Makes sense that India blocks a religion that threatens their own socio political worldview.
Sikhs have a long history of fighting Islam. They have proven themselves to be fierce warriors over the centuries.
They are just trying to preserve their culture, nothing wrong with that.
Muslims deserve their hell holes, nothing better in true Islam.
Hope it passes and they start a trend. Myanmar can follow suit, followed by Thailand. China may set the standard to the world that “multiculturalism” stops at murder.
