WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump’s efforts to “cheat to win an election” are a threat to national security, the top Democratic investigator testified Monday as the House Judiciary Committee pushes ahead with articles of impeachment.
In an acrimonious, nearly 10-hour hearing, Democrats outlined their case against the president, saying Trump’s push to have Ukraine investigate rival Joe Biden while withholding U.S. military aid ran counter to U.S. policy and benefited Russia as well as himself. Trump and his allies railed against the “absurd” proceedings, with Republicans defending the president as having done nothing wrong ahead of the 2020 election.
The outcome, though, appears increasingly set as Democrats prepare at least two, if not more, articles of impeachment against Trump, likely charging him with an abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. A Judiciary committee vote could come as soon as this week.
“President Trump’s persistent and continuing effort to coerce a foreign country to help him cheat to win an election is a clear and present danger to our free and fair elections and to our national security,” said Dan Goldman, the director of investigations at the House Intelligence Committee.

There are at least 40 Democrats that do not want to take this vote.

I don’t believe the House Dems have the votes. I also believe Pelosi knows it and wants out of this mess. She can use it as a campaign issue but if the Senate tosses it out then the House looks extra bad.

The entire “impeachment” farce and the 3-year-long attempt to remove Trump from office have been an attempt at voter fraud, viz. an attempt to steal the votes of Americans who elected Trump to the Presidency.
When the IG report came out today it proved the FBI, CIA etc did exactly what Trump accused them of doing for the last three years.
After the hearing in the Senate on Wednesday I would say the impeachment thing is dead.

There is this persistent fantasy that Republicans are eager to dump Trump; but in favor of whom? Pence hasn’t done much to rally the troops, there’s few who could step up and fill a stadium with supporters.
Republicans know that Trump voters will show up to vote for Trump. They got a choice - be remembered as someone who supported the president, or someone who tried to conduct a coup and usurp the will of the voters.
Only Democrats in their echo chamber can imagine that will turn out well for them.
That’s the weirdest thing of it all... Why go through this whole sideshow which is political masturbation for their most rabid of supporters, but gains them not one additional voter.
