Let go of the rope, slips through crampon with a locked carabiner, and it doesn’t have a locking KNOT on the end to prevent it feeding through the carabiner, then the climber falls to their probable death, taking other climbers with them if they are attached to the same rope (which might save the next in line and the “faller” if the drop isn’t far enough to cause the weight of both to pull out the next crampon.
Letting go of the rope is euphemism in this context to “I’m not playing in this rope trick”.

He was trying to go into the fact that his behavior was sanctioned but Collins cut him off saying he was following the other sides type of questioning.
