Rapelling 101. Let go of the rope, slips through crampon with a locked carabiner, and it doesn’t have a locking KNOT on the end to prevent it feeding through the carabiner, then the climber falls to their probable death, taking other climbers with them if they are attached to the same rope (which might save the next in line and the “faller” if the drop isn’t far enough to cause the weight of both to pull out the next crampon.
Letting go of the rope is euphemism in this context to “I’m not playing in this rope trick”.
that is terrifying..no wonder I don’t put my life on the line rappeling.

Climber terms... I am however a past clamper chapter president. Dont know how all of this pertains to the clampers. Note of interest though ... Justice Kennedy Justice Earl Warren and others were/are clampers
