Posted on 12/07/2019 4:02:13 AM PST by cotton1706

This will be a weekly post.

Count is now 170 judges confirmed.

120 District Court judges

48 Circuit Court judges

2 Supreme Court justices

Trump has now appointed 20% of the judiciary.

Cloture has been scheduled next week on two 9th circuit nominees. When they are confirmed, Trump will will have FIFTY circuit court judges confirmed in THREE years. By comparison, Obama had 55 in EIGHT years.

With a Senate impeachment trial now likely, once this year closes we may not see any more confirmations till February.

In addition to the two 9th circuit nominees previously mentioned, there are 18 district judges awaiting votes on the Senate floor.

Do you know what the make up of the 9th Circuit will be when these two are confirmed? Thank you for your weekly update.

It's not that McConnel is pro-Trump (he is not), but this is the legacy that Turtle wants to leave behind - transformation of the Judiciary.

Like Ronoldus Maximus said: "It's amazing what can be accomplished if you don't mind who gets the credit for it".

It will have 16 Democrat appointees vs 13 Republican appointees. Quite a change from the 23-6 Democrat advantage when Trump took office.

There will be far fewer society-altering decisions from the 9th circuit going forward.

I want to know how the heck Turtle is pushing these judges through.

Maybe keeping the lunatic fringe busy with Romper Room Make Believe is a net positive all the way around.

McConnell knows that he has to keep conservatives in his side. He too is up for re-election next year and has betrayed us over and over.

In a normal Republican presidency a lot of relative moderates are appointed. And the Senate would confirm the moderates (who would become liberals) first and leave the conservatives for later.

But Trump for the most part is sending to the Senate ONLY conservatives. And the weak-in-the-knees senators are forced to vote for these conservatives or face the voters’ wrath.

So McConnell is not doing this willingly. He wants to be reelected and wants to remain as majority leader. In return, we get a conservative judiciary.

He's not pro-Trump? Of course he is. And he's doing a great job on getting these judges approved.

He's a good guy. Find a Dem to criticize.

I wonder how many open seats are left to fill!

Is it close to full yet or are there still a lot left?

Thank you. McConnell is doing a great job and this country is better off because he is there, along with every other Republican. I do not know if there are any Republicans regularly voting AGAINST Trump’s nominees. Is Romney voting for them? He’d be suspect number one to be voting against them.

This is interesting. We have much for which to be thankful. Republicans are in the majority and are using it effectively. WE MUST alway remain in the majority and this means ALWAYS voting STRAIGHT Republican, no matter who is the Republican in a general election. If we don’t like a certain Republican, the primary election is the place to get rid of them. Like it, or not, politics is a team sport and one of mathematics. We MUST keep majorities! NEVER surrender to a Democrat.

More likely the girls...Collins and her partner in crime...they look at women issues and nothing else. So if a judge ever uttered an anti abortion word....woe is he.

Couldn’t open it but we’re learning that ALL Republican senators are for the most part doing the right thing—even Romney. We’re better off with him than without him. We’ll keep him and ignore him when he’s stupid,

There’s always a lot of district vacancies.

There’s only four circuit vacancies, two of which will be filled next week.

The other’s are for the 11th and the 5th, both with nominees that haven’t been voted on in committee. But the 5th nominee is likely to be withdrawn because he doesn’t have enough support (he’s not conservative enough and is a pal of Mick Mulvaney).
