I suspect there will be a motion to dismiss certain charges such as the obstruction of Congress charge. Only the courts can determine if the President's claim of executive privilege is appropriate.
There is no evidence of bribery so that will be dismissed. I suspect he will face obstruction charges related to the Russia hoax and witness tampering for his tweet.
I hope he forces a special session of Congress over Christmas to end this charade by mid January.

I can maybe see Trump agreeing in a deal where this batch also agrees but it would still have to a very limited scope of questioning centered around whatever specific charges they bring. And “Orange Man Bad” is not a specific charge either...even though that seems to be the centerpiece of their argument.

Along with his head permanently stuck up his posterior, he also puts that horrible reddish “dye” on said hair (which also appears to be leaching into his scalp). I’m sure it must be irritating to his behind, and he has to vent his anger at someone, in this case President Trump.

Senator Grassley was interviewed about this and said quite emphatically that the President would never testify unless the White House counsel lost their minds. The lack of evidence of any impeachable offense is all the Senate needs to rule on.
They're not going to let him just make a statement and let it stand at that. And any statement would have to be made under oath, and any defense attorney who would let Trump say anything under oath should be disbarred.
He’ll take the stand. This is not a criminal trial, it’s a political witch hunt. Trump taking the stand will not change a single vote in the Senate. But if he doesn’t testify, he will look weak to the American people. He will take the stand and he will be exonerated and win in 2020 by a Reagan landslide.
There is no presumption of innocence here. In fact there will be a presumption of guilt. There is no “beyond a reasonable doubt” evidentiary standard. Trump will have to prove his innocence, not necessarily to the Senate, but to the voters.
He’ll do just fine. He has answered every question put to him by the Fake News Media. He’ll do fine against the swamp.
