MEXICO CITY (AP) Mexican security forces fought an hour-long gun gunbattle Saturday with suspected cartel gunmen in Villa Union, a town in Coahuila state about an hours drive southwest of Eagle Pass, Texas, leaving at least 14 people dead, officials said.
Coahuila state Gov. Miguel Angel Riquelme told local media four of the dead were police officers killed in the initial confrontation, and that several municipal workers were missing.
He said the armed group stormed the town of 3,000 residents in a convoy of trucks, attacking local government offices and prompting state and federal forces to intervene. Ten alleged members of the Cartel of the Northeast were killed in the response.

Those trucks in pictures have Texas plates. Declare these groups terrorists, name Mexico a a failed state, deploy troops, and Close the border. Give Mexico 72 hours to secure their side of the border, else deploy troops to do so for 25-100 mile safe zone to then repatriate Mexicans from the US. DEPORT THEM ALL, let them fix their country.
Pick up the speed on getting the wall finished.
No, sadly Trump is talking about naming them terrorists. He has not actually done so. All talk, no action.
After the conclusion of the Mexican War, we should have purchased the Baja California peninsula and about 10 miles of land south of the existing border, excluding the Rio Grande River.
The cartels are operating inside the US.
We need to ramp up removals as well.
Or else it would be 29,415!!! :)
That’s a wartime number to me.
Wow.
“Thats a wartime number to me.”
It is for sure... It’s incredible.
They are a major threat to the US in more ways than one.
The biggest threat is that they are allied with Democrats and GOPe in our treasonous sell-out to get rich Congress. And by allied, I mean purchased with laundered drug and human trafficking dollars. Congress has become the enemy of the people, making themselves multi-millionaires on our backs.
Per Fox the number is now 21.
Somebody ping Stephen King. He needs to explain how this could happen in such a country. Are the anti-knife laws stronger than the anti-gun laws in Mexico?
I saw a video of the headquarters and there were bullet holes all over the place. Those cartels are better armed than the police are.....
To me there is something more dangerous than organized crime , and that is disorganized crime.
What we are seeing in Mexico is an example of disorganized crime. - Tom
I would suggest the 1st Cavalry Division. They have 3 armored brigades, 1 artillery brigade, and 1 air cavalry brigade. The air cav can move lots of troops in a hurry. They also have what they call a sustainment brigade (supply). The HQ is at Fort Hood, Texas, so they wouldn’t have to move very far. Full disclosure: I was with the First Cav in VietNam, so I might be a little partial towards them.
You don’t get it. The police there take bribes and make themselves a target, OR they don’t take bribes and make themselves a Target.
They must have their own embedded medical services.
Visited Mexico many years ago. A disgusting place....and was sick for a month after we got home.
Government is tied to the cartel money...somehow some way break the reliance on cartel money
They are in the Democrats pockets. To me that is one of the biggest reasons there is so much resistance to controlling the border.
