...would not allow the US to conduct cross-border armed operations... Not allow? And just how does he propose to stop the US Military?
I'm not advocating an invasion of a neighboring country. However, I wouldn't let them play the role of Laos and Cambodia - providing a free haven for cartel operations. If the cartel is operating against US interests (ie. rising above the level of merely helping the weak destroy their lives), then I say we pursue and engage them where-ever they are.

They wouldnt allow George Patton to commence operations against Pancho Villa, either...(didnt work)

No. The headline is FAKE NEWS. The president of Mexico stated several times that he was certain the US would not engage the cartels unilaterally. He was responding to a barrage of FAKE NEWS reporters who were trying to force him to take the position they claimed he took. They lied. Once again the NEWS seeks to be the news, not report the news.

I think you're putting lipstick on a pig. I think we're probably just downright stupid. Maybe like Einstein, but only after you put his brain in a blender with vinegar and avocado and then poured it back in his head. If you think about it, some of it would be bound to spill or run down his neck or out his ears. And whatever percent didn't get back into his head and then congeal there and become a brain again ... to that extent ... we would be that stupid.

The Mexican air force has no fighter jets. Their last worn-out F-5s were mothballed in 2016

Mexico not allow US military operations against cartels because too many U.S. and Mexican politicians get kickbacks, favors, and bribes from these organizations.
So there ya have it.
