Jobless claims unexpectedly plunged in the week ended November 23, indicating that the American labor market remains strong.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits fell by 15,000 to 213,000, the Labor Department said Wednesday. Economists had been looking for a smaller decline.
The prior weeks claims were revised up by 1,000 to 228,000.

Yes, Winning. It would be interesting to know what the unemployment claims are state by state. Overall unemployment is down, but which states are down more and which states are up?

Thanks, interesting list. A few loser states I expected and several I did not. I wonder what the states gaining employment have in common and what the states with rising unemployment have in common.
Just had a report on Ultra Left Wing Liberal CBS 2 in Chicago that “thousands” of young men in the inter-city can’t find jobs. A fake store front Chicago South Side preacher held another rally demanding jobs for the community.
It is interesting that all of the signs at this rallies are professionally printed and contain the same text.
I was expecting CA and NY to have similar trends. Surprised they do not.
What a difference between administrations.
During the previous administration, my son with a BS in engineering, was unemployed for a year. It all changed in 2017.

They really can’t find jobs; they are unemployable. God help you if they’re hired at your job...
Only Alaska and DC have unemployment rates over 5%. 5% use to be considered full employment. Now it’s bad if it increases by a 10th of a point.
