A black dem afraid to vote yes for impeachment is quite telling.
As with Clinton, a censure would be consequence free and therefore meaningless.
Moreover, one Constitutionally separate coequal branch really has no standing to censure another branch. It would be like the Vice President demanding to vote on a Supreme Court case.
The censure would be completely partisan.
The Republican Senate should immediately censure the house for the partisan exercise in response.

Interesting. This from an AA female from a 90% democrat district in Detroit. She’s got the job for as long as she wants it so she could vote for impeachment with impunity but now she says maybe a “censure” would be the appropriate action. I see a big “tell” here.

A censure would be an empty gesture. President Trump would rightly see it as a victory and the Democrats’ base would know it pales in comparison to impeachment.
Reminds me of when Sheila Jackson Lee said Bill Clinton should be “censored” .
There would be a similar failure if the House democrats vote to Censure and not one Republican goes along with it.
Wouldn’t that also make the dems appear partisan and petty?

The Democrat leadership is using Ms. Lawrence to test the waters on backing down. If the idea falls flat, they’re back to impeachment.

I don’t. Are they voting now? No. Given that I would take everything Dems say with a grain of salt. Dems are obviously putting impeachment on the back burner for a bit and trying to gaslight the situation. It could go either way but we have to assume they will impeach and insist the GOP Senate aggressively support POTUS.
