HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (Reuters) - The U.S. Navy Secretary said on Saturday he did not threaten to resign amid a disagreement with President Donald Trump over whether a Navy SEAL convicted of battlefield misconduct should face a board of peers who may oust him from the elite force.
There seem to be rumors out there that I threatened to resign. I have not threatened to resign, Richard Spencer told reporters at a security conference in Halifax. The New York Times reported earlier on Saturday that Spencer had threatened to quit if Trump subverted the process.
Spencer said Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher should face a board of peers because the process matters for good order and discipline, Reuters reported on Friday.
On Saturday, Spencer said good order and discipline is also obeying orders from the president of the United States, and he said that he hopes to contribute going forward in his role.

The President should accept his resignation anyway.
What did he say about taking away the Trident of the railroaded Navy Seal.
Thats what I want to know.
He should remind people of the FAKE MEDIA!!!!
Can he sue?
Maybe it was and maybe it wasn't. Maybe he wrote a check with his mouth that he couldn't cash and when word got out, had a "Come to Jesus" moment.
He probably figured out Trump would accept the offer. Trump learns from mistakes. Most people forget Sessions offered to resign a month after he recused in 17. Had Trump taken the offer the amount of grief he could have saved is incalculable.
Reuters remains consistent with its editorial tricks. ...if Trump subverted the process... Ha ha. The potus is cic.
Maybe the press lied about him saying he would resign...
If the press thought the story would hurt Trump, they would run with it even if their only source was a drunk street person... so who knows what he really said.
Trust the deep state thugs or the press liars? Too close to call...
Maybe it was and maybe it wasn’t. Maybe he wrote a check with his mouth that he couldn’t cash and when word got out, had a “Come to Jesus” moment.

That is my take on it.
Brave talk until he realized he “wrote a check” and could not cover it.
My idea is much more exciting and would convey the same idea.
What was Spencer doing in Halifax?
IIRC, that venue is where McCain and the blooming Steele dossier got its wings. Shortly after the Halifax pow-wow, MaCain’s flunky flew over to London to pick it up.
If his commitment is that good order and discipline is also obeying orders from the president of the United States well and good; however ALL members of the US Armed Forces must be reminded that insubordination can not and will not be tolerated and that anyone guilty of it will be swiftly and certainly stripped of rank and court marshaled.
Members of the diplomatic corps seem to be in need of this reminder as well.
Good order and discipline . Then shut up and obey the directive of the CiC. An order is an order and there is no official format or media.
Why is she still allowed in the WH ?
Its time to yank her press access now .
Gosh, I remember these rumors spreading around nearly a month ago, and it’s only now that after breathlessly repeating them over and over that media bothers to ask the person?
But he did in regards to the operation of the USS Ford, a super carrier that may never be combat ready (radar, elevator, propulsion, launch/recovery system - all experimental), but which type the Navy has ordered 3 more.
On Sunday the U.S. Navy Secretary was seen washing President Trump’s car...
