Clint Eastwoods new film Richard Jewell has been criticised for its portrayal of one of the key journalists involved in reporting on the 1996 Atlanta bombing case on which the film is based.
Jewell was a security guard who discovered the bomb and led bystanders away; he was investigated by the FBI for several weeks but never charged. After two further bombings, Eric Robert Rudolph was identified as a suspect, and convicted in 2005. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution controversially named him three days later.
Kevin G Riley, editor in chief of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, said in a letter to the Wrap that the films suggestion that its reporter Kathy Scruggs traded sex for information from an FBI agent was not true, and that the films intention was to undermine confidence in the media and law enforcement agencies.

Tits for tips...
Bump
Clint likely has better sources than most of fake media and the story is probably true.
....and that the films intention was to undermine confidence in the media and law enforcement agencies.
It would be my intention to revoke their FCC license -breach of trust.
You can defame the useless, dishonest media. There needs to be journalistic reform in the worst way. Journalism died two decades ago, and there needs to be a new generation of honest reporters come forward (if there ever was such a thing).
Very well put.
Media whores don’t just screw the innocent. They do a pretty good job on themselves.
The media did this to itself a long time ago--and does so today!
Does anyone trust the media to be truthful??? Is TRUTH--TRUTH for its own sake--even a consideration to those in the media??? Does anyone expect anything from the media but propaganda???
Only media a-holes (redundant) would make themselves the victim in a Richard Jewell movie.
What's scary is that millions apparently accept as truth the groupthink narrative presented by the propaganda machine, viz. the media, like the dumb driven cattle we are warned to be not like.
A couple of years ago, two-time-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said something to the effect that the lesson of Orwell’s 1984 was to beware of those who undermine our faith in the authorities, the media, etc. She must have read a different book than I did, but it’s nice to see the Atlanta newspaper has the same point of view.
Of course it was.
Heroes are often abused.
Witness the abuse of the Great American Hero: President Donald Trump, risking and sacrificing everything (in his case a great deal) in order to save his beloved America from the clutches of those who would seize he and her vast wealth and power for their own personal advantages, and whose rallying cries are "Make America Great!" and "In God We Trust!"
And the media is as guilty as anything of this evil travesty!
Undermining confidence in the media INDEED! As though the media were worthy of any confidence or trust!
Truth--for its own sake--nullifies the groupthink narrative.
Like blaming a contractor for pulling off your drywall and showing you this:
The press and FBI aren't at fault. It's that mean right-wing director whose to blame for tearing off the drywall and making the hardworking termites run around.
Artistic license... not that Hollywood has ever misrepresented conservatives or anything... /s
Libs pervert the truth on conservatives ceaselessly. Its nice to turn that back on them.
Besides, this is probably more truth than fictionshe may have actually done this.
That sounds like the Democrats, not the Mainstream Media.
Oh, wait ...
Out of all the thousands so-called journalists at the various levels in their twisted hierarchy you can probably fit those with any integrity and professionalism in a greyhound bus. They are so few honest journalists the best policy to take towards them as a profession is to assume they are like junkies. They are going to lie to you, they will only take from you, they have no ethics or morals and no compassion or human decency. Avoid them, treat them like the drug addled junkies they behave like.
Few are worthy of respect and those you continually watch that they dont go native to this so-called profession. Have little to no contact and always assume they will lie about any contact you have with them.
The left hated Hoover’s FBI and despised the CIA. Now they run them and love them.
