Clint Eastwood Atlanta bombing film criticised over 'sex-for-tips' reporter
The Guardian ^ | 21 November 2019 | Andrew Pulver

Clint Eastwood’s new film Richard Jewell has been criticised for its portrayal of one of the key journalists involved in reporting on the 1996 Atlanta bombing case on which the film is based.

Jewell was a security guard who discovered the bomb and led bystanders away; he was investigated by the FBI for several weeks but never charged. After two further bombings, Eric Robert Rudolph was identified as a suspect, and convicted in 2005. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution controversially named him three days later.

Kevin G Riley, editor in chief of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, said in a letter to the Wrap that the film’s suggestion that its reporter Kathy Scruggs traded sex for information from an FBI agent was not true, and that the film’s intention was to undermine confidence in the media and law enforcement agencies.

Ironic that Kathy Scruggs died before her 43rd birthday from acute morphine toxicity, according to the GBI medical examiner.

The medical examiner was unable to determine whether the overdose was intentional or accidental.

Another useful tool of the FBI eliminated.

You can’t defame a dead person. Like there is anything Eastwood could do to undermine confidence in the media that they’ve not already done to themselves.

Funny how the minute you venture into the conspiracy world you are a tin foil hat crazy, there you go again mentally ill conspiracy theorist. There are happenings within our government and the world that needs explanation. We are told to believe and follow the group thought group think narrative don’t look behind the couch or that curtain nothing to see there. The devious diabolical people of power can make things happen, people disappear without a trace to keep the status quo safe and sound for those who feed from it

SPOT ON. - It’s also difficult to defame the FBI “management types”, given that they are as CROOKED as the criminals that they chase.
(I was a lawman, with another federal LE agency, for 3+ decades & found that the FBI “field agents” were GREAT as a group BUT their “Big Shots” were mostly CREEPS, CROOKS & POLITICIANS.)

If the editor in chief of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution says it is false, you can believe it was true.

It was a terrible abuse of power and despicable what was done to Jewell, a true hero.

As another person said after they had been so falsely accused and smeared, “Where do I go to get my reputation back?”

I plan on seeing the movie.

Naturally the left will be in a huff about Eastwood’s accurate depiction of the FBI.

...and that the film’s intention was to undermine confidence in the media and law enforcement agencies.

News Flash to Kevin G Riley, editor in chief of the AJC - That ship has already sailed. The train has left the station.

This guy must be living under a rock. He is in this bubble with his small group of like minded friends. If he is so clueless about what the perception of a very large segment of the population is, of media and the law enforcement, he really needs to find a new job.

Funny how the roles have flipped now that the left owns the central organs of government. For decades we were told to question authority but now we’re supposed to be good citizens. We’re supposed to love the FBI now.

The left media wants to distract from the film message by
acting like the evil AJC left wing rag was the victim .

How truly sick and twisted these glorified left wing propaganda pr firms are.

Yes, we should love the FBI that conducted Ruby Ridge, Waco, FISA abuse, etc.

We should love the same FBI that failed to stop multiple Islamic jihadists that were “on their radar”.

We should love the FBI whose laboratory falsified test results.

It is impossible to undermine zero.

“This is essential because the underlying theme of the movie is that the FBI and press are not to be trusted. “

Kevin G. Riley has been living under a rock.

Despite past criticism, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has always defended its reporting on Jewell as accurate according to the information it had, and refused to settle with him after Jewell sued for libel. Jewell died in 2007, but his claim was finally rejected by the Georgia court of appeals in 2011.

Reason 42 why we despise the MSM. They lie. Then they’re caught in a lie and they double down.

“people of power can make things happen, people disappear without a trace to keep the status quo safe and sound for those who feed from it”

To feed off of the status quo, one must relegate to bottom-feeding. Fortunately, the new counterculture presents opportunities for avoiding that. It’s called having a healthy skepticism.
