WASHINGTON A highly anticipated report by the Justice Departments inspector general is expected to sharply criticize lower-level F.B.I. officials as well as bureau leaders involved in the early stages of the Trump-Russia investigation, but to absolve the top ranks of abusing their powers out of bias against President Trump, according to people briefed on a draft.
Investigators for the inspector general, Michael E. Horowitz, uncovered errors and omissions in documents related to the wiretapping of a former Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page including that a low-level lawyer, Kevin Clinesmith, altered an email that officials used to prepare to seek court approval to renew the wiretap, the people said.
More broadly, Mr. Horowitzs report, to be made public on Dec. 9, portrays the overall effort to seek the wiretap order and its renewals as sloppy and unprofessional, according to the people familiar with it. He will also sharply criticize as careless one of the F.B.I. case agents in New York handling the matter, they said.

only accurate story they ever published, sadly
Due to past reports I don’t put much faith in Horowitz. He is an obama stooge.
I put a lot of faith in Barr and Durham.
Gosh! Who do I believe. The New York Times or President Donald J. Trump, who has read the report.
No surprise here. Many people have been saying for quite sometime that this guy is a Deep Stater and will spend most of his time investigating and then planning a mitigation strategy.
NYT spin trying to deflate the inevitable.
We the people aren’t that stupid. As long as the FBI fails to thoroughly investigate Hillary and the Bidens, we know for a fact that extreme bias is at play. Horowitz would torpedo his own credibility with a conclusion of no bias. If the deep state insists keeping a hand on the scale, they will end up losing a hand.
The Slimes must tell us what to think after they check their daily supply of leaks from their comrades, embedded by Obama in those17 intel agencies he directed.
“...or President Donald J. Trump, who has read the report.”
I don’t believe President Trump said he read the report.
“Many people have been saying for quite sometime that this guy is a Deep Stater and will spend most of his time investigating and then planning a mitigation strategy.”
I’m one of them. Horowitz is a DOJ bureaucrat and the DOF and the FBI live by the rule “Don’t Embarrass the Bureau.” That rule is set in stone. That’s why there were little to no repercussions about Ruby Ridge and Waco. They protect their own.
Uh, DOF should be DOJ.
>>>I dont believe President Trump said he read the report.<<<
Does he have to? I doubt that he would be commenting on something he knows nothing about.
Apparently Horowitz’s job is look for paperwork snafus while ignoring anything of substance.
The real scam is that all real investigations are held up for years while the IG determines whether paperclip placement complied with FBI regulations.
This is depressing! But it is the New York Times.
“I doubt that he would be commenting on something he knows nothing about.”
Absolutely not. No doubt he was briefed but I would write that he read the report. Damn thing is hundreds of pages reportedly.
President Trump says it’s a big deal and then there’s John Durham’s report coming behind it.
He suggests that’s a bigger deal. So, I’m good but a stickler for being accurate is all. It’s my bag.
Hoping that the NY Slimes isn’t correct because we’re weary of this cover up.
“Mistakes were made”, “no intent”, etc. Deep State weasel words to obfuscate criminal acts.
Nor do I. There will likely be no high level criminal referrals. Like his Fast & Furious report, there might be some mid or low level patsy to take one for the team. "Mistakes were made, but it was still an effective and legitimate investigation." "No harm, no fowl."
I don’t believe it.
Otherwise DJT would be guilty of misleading us with his comments about it being the greatest political scandal in history.

The IG report coming out next month is expected to make no finding that COMEY, MCCABE or STRZOK acted on anti-Trump political bias in Russia probe,
the IG report also indicates that MIFSUD is *not* an FBI informant and no evidence from CIA or Steele Dossier were used to open Russia probe — a claim Trump and allies have made for years.
report is likely to show FBI officials exaggerated Steele’s track record of aiding previous FBI investigations. Will also conclude Carter Page FISA effort was flawed but not necessarily unjustified.
