'Coup' Concerns Suddenly Don't Seem So Far-fetched
Townhall.com ^ | November 21, 2019 | Victor Davis Hanson

For most of the last three years, Donald Trump's critics have scoffed at supposed "conspiracy theories" that claimed a "deep state" of bureaucrats were aborting the Trump presidency. We have been told the word "coup" is hyperbole that reveals the paranoid minds of Trump supporters.

Yet oddly, many people brag that they are proud members of a deep state and occasionally boast about the idea of a coup.

Recently, former acting CIA chief John McLaughlin proclaimed in a public forum, "Thank God for the deep state." Former CIA director John Brennan agreed and praised the "deep state people" for their opposition to Trump.

Far from denying the danger of an unelected careerist bureaucracy that seeks to overturn presidential policies, New York Times columnists have praised its efforts to nullify the Trump agenda.

On the first day of the impeachment inquiry, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff called his initial two witnesses, career State Department diplomats William Taylor Jr. and George Kent. Far from providing damning evidence of criminal presidential behavior, Taylor and Kent mostly confined themselves to three topics: their own sterling resumes, their lack of any firsthand knowledge of incriminating Trump action, and their poorly hidden disgust with the manner and substance of Trump's foreign policy.

Just pinging in to say I looking forward to the day when somebody finally reduces the sea levels. I want to see a very shallow state as a esult of the debacle.

I don't think it would be beyond reason to ultimately hold a trial and stand them up against a wall.

I do. I would support skipping the trial part.

Who knows... maybe the New York Times, Washington Post, ABC and NBC were visiting the rape rooms of Jeffery Epstein's mansions... A coup sounded far out a year ago...

Are 'rape rooms' really that far out by today's standards? Rape rooms were mentioned by democrats after all - in the Brett Kavanaugh witch-hunt hearings... AND democrats are known for projecting on to others what THEY'RE DOING...

The 'coup' might have been about more than 'legal theft' by deep state thugs... it might have been about keeping child rape rooms filled with powerful democrats.

No. Coup is a strike. A strike is a sudden action. coup-de-’-anything at all is a sudden strike in designated circumstances. he right is making the language meaningless just as surely as is the left. The current nastiness could conceivably result in a coup if certain elements of the CIA, say, were to suddenly strike at the president and successfully send a SWAT into the White House to kill or “arrest” him.

Coups are planned but the coup is not the planning or the leadup. It is the strike, the sudden action. It is barely conceivable that the CIA could decide that the Democrats’ huge pile of ephemerous evidence of DJT being a reincarnation of Adollph Hitler is sufficient to storm the White House and arrest or kill the President. The actual attack would be a Coup.

I suspect a coup is wished for and planned for continually but carrying it won’t happen unless a group of plotters decides they can do the deed successfully and not get wiped out by loyal Secret Service guys and Trump’s own private security.

The three year effort to undermine and depose the president is a three year effort to undermine and depose the president not a “coup. It may well result in a coup or the attempt at a coup. Try to keep control of the language. When we butcher it it is no better than when the left does it.

I never claimed any PTSD. Given my service record, they always ask...and ask....and ask. But something happened once that made me determined I would NEVER do it even if it cost me 100% (before I knew what I was going to get).

My last post got a little messed up because I was typing it into my android device with auto-correct on. You and I are about the only ones not to claim PTSD these days... Yes even Firefighters and Police are going off disabled claiming PTSD these days.

I am an aviation enthusiast every time a medication has been suggested to me I always ask how it will affect my pilots license medical. Typically the doctor says he does not know or care about that.
