The Great Revolt enters a new phase: How the populist uprising of 2016 will reverberate in 2020
Washington Examiner ^ | November 18, 2019, | Salena Zito & Brad Todd

“I chose my life because, not for the money obviously, but because I get to see my family every day. That's what it's about. I got to see my parents every day growing up. And my kids get to see that too,” said Klinkner, the father of three with another one on the way.

On Trump, Klinkner is pragmatic, “I am very happy with his policies, I just wish he’d put that Twitter down,” he said of the president’s unorthodox style of communicating. This cuts against the national media’s narrative that farmers will dump the president because of the trade uncertainty.

And yes, Klinkner will vote for him again.

Whether or not the president ever turns his attention to winning over the voters who resist both socialism and his own style, other Republicans will be appealing to them. Suburban voters hold the keys to hotly contested 2020 Senate races in Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, and Colorado — not to mention the entire slate of competitive house districts.

The suburbs may be where control of government will be decided, but the 2020 election will not be the end of the coalition Trump mobilized in 2016 or the resistance that formed in response. Why?

Because the individualization of our cultural economy and the self-sorting of our communities will keep fueling distrust of establishment institutions and keep roiling our political and consumer behaviors. Establishment politicians, CEOs, and journalists all ignore the dynamism of this great revolt at their own peril.

On Trump, Klinkner is pragmatic, “I am very happy with his policies, I just wish he’d put that Twitter down,”

Why can't people understand that Trump has to do this to survive. With the hostile media and, at best, lukewarm GOP, very few will defend him against attacks. Learn from the Clintons. The sun would never go down before they responded to an attack or allegations of wrongdoing.

You will never survive a political "battle" unless you are willing to pick up a "gun" and return fire. That is what Twitter does for him. The media will not report his response . . . it's really pretty simple why he does it.

“Why can’t people understand that Trump has to do this to survive.”

I was going to say the same, but you said it better. I noticed when liberals say this, what they seem to mean is, “I support Trump, but now I have to say something bad about him because, despite my support, I am still a “good” person.” It’s a sort of reverse virtue signaling. They feel the need to leaven their support with something that leaves them a member of the “in” crowd. I think in the privacy of the voting booth, they will pull the lever for Trump.

On another note, I have overheard several Democrats express despair at the current crop of presidential hopefuls.

Without the Twitter feed we’d get only MSM twisted narratives rather than an accurate picture of his intentions.

Exactly, I wish people would understand that. And whomever the next President is, R or D, is going to Tweet too. It's here to stay.

President Donald Trump will head to Austin Wednesday to accompany Apple CEO Tim Cook on a tour of company facilities, a White House official confirmed to The Texas Tribune.

According to the official, Trump will tour a new Apple manufacturing plant and tout the company’s recent expansion, which includes the creation of thousands of new jobs. Cook and Trump will join U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Director of the National Economic Council Larry Kudlow, son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump on the visit.

While on the tour, Trump, Cook and the administration officials will hear from Apple employees about how the products are assembled at the Austin facility. News of the upcoming trip was first reported by Reuters on Tuesday.

The man is trying to break up the deep state strangle hold on the organs of power in the US. You think all those folks on the take are just going to give up because Trump was elected. It's taking a hell of a lot of chaos to shake the monkeys out of their trees. And the tweets remind us that in all the chaos Trump has a laser-like focus on what he is trying to get done.

What you just described is called "the fake because".

Scott Adams describes it:

And that’s what matters. We want to act on that feeling, but it conflicts with our self-image as nice people. That causes cognitive dissonance. The way out of your dissonance is to find a “fake because.” You need to latch onto some sort of rational-sounding reason that passes the sniff test.

And so you look to Clinton’s “deplorable” comment and find your “fake because.” She insulted voters, you say! It’s just like Romney’s 47% gaffe, you say! She’s acting unpresidential, you say!

“I am very happy with his policies, I just wish he’d put that Twitter down,”

Without the tweets the gaslight presstitutes would have controlled the narrative and none of his policies would have been implemented.

Twitter is the only avenue he has of bypassing them.

Suburban Milwaukee businessman, Neil Karolek is the exact type of voter Democrats are looking to pick off, except the CEO of a Pewaukee technology company isn’t going anywhere towards the Democrats despite not caring for the president’s style, “Do I like his style? Of course not, when you look at the results ... there's this weird disconnection between his demeanor and what happens with his approach on policies,” he said.

It's ONLY weird because unlike the politicians, who talk nice and promise all of us good things (because that's what we want to hear)--yet NEVER deliver once elected--Donald Trump walks the walk, not just talk.

In other words, Neil, they lied to you while smiling and you used to vote for them anyways.

Now here's Donald Trump, who talks rough but puts into place policies you like and that help you.

So, what's your choice gonna be?

Mr. Klinkner, I’m glad President Trump is doing Tweeter, because if he didn’t, the Democrat/Socialist Media would ramp up more lies about our President!

Great post, Dave. Keep up the good work.
