One of the nations largest gay advocacy organizations is greeting Chick-Fil-As divestment from Christian charities like the Salvation Army with tepid praise and further demands, including an unequivocal denunciation of the brands history and values.
GLAAD (whose name is an acronym for its former title, Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) demanded safe workplaces for LGBTQ employees and an apparent denunciation of the Christian ministry Focus on the Family, responding to Chick-Fil-As decision to stop donating to the Salvation Armys Angel Tree program for needy children and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, which serves historically black colleges and universities (HCBUs).
The full statement from Drew Anderson, GLAADs director of campaigns and rapid response, names more steps the fast-food chain must take to prove its genuine repentance:
"If Chick-Fil-A is serious about their pledge to stop holding hands with divisive anti-LGBTQ activists, then further transparency is needed regarding their deep ties to organizations like Focus on the Family, which exist purely to harm LGBTQ people and families.
Chick-Fil-A investors, employees, and customers can greet todays announcement with cautious optimism, but should remember that similar press statements were previously proven to be empty.
In addition to refraining from financially supporting anti-LGBTQ organizations, Chick-Fil-A still lacks policies to ensure safe workplaces for LGBTQ employees and should unequivocally speak out against the anti-LGBTQ reputation that their brand represents."

Just wait. They will soon be open on Sunday.
None of this changes my buying habits - I like Chik-fil-A’s food. But it’s a pity they decided to stop contributing to the Salvation Army - those folks do good work and make a positive difference, and the execs at Chik-fil-A must know that they’ve started down a road of appeasement that has no end.
I have supported them because they have good food and they stood firm in their convictions.
Now, I’m a bit reluctant to support another company that bends over and assumes the gay position to whatever is sticking out.
Better grow some, CFilA, and show us what you’ve got.
Give a homo an inch, and theyll ram it further.
'You are improving. Intellectually there is very little wrong with you. It is only emotionally that you have failed to make progress. Tell me, Winston--and remember, no lies: you know that I am always able to detect a lie--tell me, what are your true feelings towards Big Brother?''I hate him.'
'You hate him. Good. Then the time has come for you to take the last step. You must love Big Brother. It is not enough to obey him: you must love him.'
He released Winston with a little push towards the guards.
'Room 101,' he said.
They are already a billion dollar business. As Barry might say, how much more money do you need? They could keep expanding while taking heat from the ungodly crowd, because customers support them too. I believe their store in Manhattan is doing well.
I lined up a week after the one here in Toronto opened and tried them out. I got one of their meals which included a sandwich waffle fries and a drink. It came with tax to around $12 Canadian bucks (about 9 US). It wasn’t bad but I felt it was a bit expensive for what I got. They’ve now opened another one at Yorkdale (a large Toronto area mall) so they seem to be doing well here.
You go there because you like their chicken. They made a business decision. My God, MUST WE POLITICIZE EVERYTHING? Do you watch football? Do you buy from Amazon? Do you ever use google?
No more Chick Fil A for me.
They had a great thing going
and screwed the pooch.
What is that market? They are climbing over each other in NYC to eat at Chik Fil-A. The gay market? That’s less than 1% of the country although the media makes them seem like 40%. Maybe he means they are losing money by not being open on Sunday. I wait with interest to see whether that changes.
I admire Chick-Fil-A for closing on Sunday and for other reasons too but...
Yep... if you give them a cookie, they’re gonna come back for a glass of milk.
Good point. How much more pieces of silver do they really need?
I won’t be going back to that chicken house, ever.
SA does do good work. My only issue is with the Angel Tree program. I volunteered with SA in 2012 to help get the Angel Tree recipients put together. I had to “interview” and get their financial data. Its the last time I’ve ever purchased an Angel Tree gift. The $ these folks were getting in assistance was more than I was getting every month in my paycheck at a great salary. I said no more and chose another charity and program to support
Chick fil-A’s decision to prostrate itself to the radical homosexual jackboots was all about their inability to gain a foothold internationally.
After failing in their effort to open a restaurant in the UK, CFA brass obviously decided they had to try to mollify the homosexual activists, at least the international lot, if they were going to have any chance for overseas expansion. CFA simply doesn’t have a fan base of southern Christians internationally to get them started so they’re going to have to go along with the locals to get along in foreign markets.
So they made their decision to cave to the leftists here in the states hoping that would open the door internationally. I’m sure they expected there to be some backlash from the family oriented conservatives who supported them here since they first came under attack. But they miscalculated horribly in two ways.
The international left is no different from the US domestic left. The left needs someone to attack at all times so bending the knee to them here isn’t going to call off the wolves in foreign markets.
And they also grossly miscalculated the nature and extent of the backlash. The people who went out of their way to support CFA in such a huge way when it came under fire are the same sort of people who will never support a traitor or accept a betrayal. And that’s what this is-a total betrayal.
So CFA has done their brand irreparable damage without gaining anything positive in exchange. A total lose/lose. I look for their market share to absolutely plummet.
The left is all about fomenting eternal blood feuds.
Serious people know that you cannot negotiate with a party who is entering into negotiations in "bad faith."
The LGBTQ is not an organization which values "good faith" and to expect its members to honor an agreement that requires it (or, for that matter, to ever be satisfied) is to demonstrate an almost terminal naivete.
Chick-Fil-A should be thankful it is not a public company. It's management would have just lost the confidence of the investing marketplace.
I think this was all about Chick-fil-A's desire to abandon Biblical principles and sell to (i.e. appease) the perverts in the marketplace.
Chick-fil-A faced a great challenge.
But it blinked.
