Pretty long twitter thread, touches all of the points.
Shouldn’t he be working?
ok.
Barr describes the Founders’ thinking on the Executive (President), and how Separation of Powers has been eroded by both the Legislative and Judicial Branches to the detriment of the Presidency.
He gives a good historical overview from early England through the Founding, and cites contemporary events, rulings to illustrate his point.
Very refreshing and right on point, imo
Federalist Society advocates understanding of the principles embodied in the constitution.
Nice to hear some of the "why" courts were to have limited power, and the havoc the courts have wrought by overstepping.
He didn't hit on Congressional abdication, but I think because he was foucing more on the actions taken to undermine the executive.
I'm sure he's thought about how to unwind the mess we are in, but there is no way that can happen in our partisan environment. He doesn't exaplain why, but read between the lines. We are beyond the healthy political give and take of reasoning participants in a shared experiment.
As per Rush, the keynote speaker was Brett Kavanaugh, and Rod Rosenstein was the only person in attendance who refused to stand when he was introduced. So much for the Quackpots who believe he’s one of the good guys.
“We are beyond the healthy political give and take of reasoning participants in a shared experiment.”
the prerequisite to civil war
Speaking of the namesake of the lecture, I wonder what the late Mrs. Olson would think of her widower’s advocacy these days.
Nice to see Barr still being active in retirement.
what is his opinion on delaying the trust, railroading a President, and justifying it all to preserve the deep state?
Thanks for posting. Very good remarks indeed.
Excellent article. I do believe many have forgotten how it’s all supposed to work and the young have never heard it before. Perfect.
I was reassured, for now, by his remarks in regard to those concerns
The Federalist Society is an incredibly important organization. It has almost single-handedly revived the concept of originalism, and been an incredibly effective advocate for that doctrine.
His speech could be better than the Sermon on the Mount but ultimately he is responsible for justice for those who tried to overthrow this government. If heads (Obama and Hillary #1 and 2)don’t roll he’s the biggest failure and fraud in United States history.
This.
Talk is cheap.
He’s a deep state pig.
His doj and the police state agencies are garbage and this man deserves only contempt.
“Hes a deep state pig.”
Really? ... and yet Trump chose him as AJ. Do I trust Trump or some anonymous guy’s opinion on a chat site? hmmm?
Didn’t this “deep state pig” actually determine Trump did NOT obstruct justice in the Russian probe? I would expect this person to actually agree with the Rats and Muller is he was actually a deep state pig.
I think you need to step away from the ledge.
