Gee, a 100 years ago the USA has far less coastal build up than today...
Shocking I Know....
The hurricanes are more destructive now is simply because there has been more stuff built and is there to be destroyed.
Used to...when ever one was subjected to an increasing number of devastating Acts of God, one would take a hint and return to God on His grounds. Just sayin’.
” increasing number of devastating Acts of God, one would take a hint and return to God on His grounds”
Modern day Sodom and Gamora may very well be LA and DC... take that with a pillar of salt.
You beat me to it. When they can accurately predict weather a couple of weeks out then I will start to listen. Here is a fun thing to do. Write the 7/10 day forecast down for your town, then compare them each day and see how accurate they are.
See Judith Curry.
With only a few hundred years of records and really only decades of reliable data only a fool would come to such a conclusion.
LIES!
No doubt about it, especially since there is 10 times more infrastructure to damage now. But that means nothing as the number of strength have not increased. In fact they have declined.
Yup. Just move the goal posts and change the rules if you are losing.
Just BS but the sheeple believe it so the truth doesn’t matter to them.
hurricanes are hitting the U.S. three times more frequently than they did a century ago
Did I miss all of these storms?
I do not recall all these extra storms.
This statement is totally wrong. The recent most destructive hurricanes have been because they moved so slowly. The water surface provides the energy force of the hurricane, but the upper atmosphere provides the force that moves the hurricane. Higher energy in the upper atmosphere produces faster moving hurricanes. However, as the most recent NASA measurements indicate, the upper atmosphere is cooling because of the solar minimum we have entered. As a result hurricanes are moving slower and causing more damage.
If Harvey moved at even 10 mph it would have been just another hurricane to hit Texas. It was moving at 4 mph or less which allowed it to grow to category 4 and then sit over Texas for days, creating a massive flooding event. This was all due to the opposite of global warming.
The only reason that 1935 is the strongest hurricane ever is the weatherman who had the barometer got caught at the top of a tree by the surge. Had he been swept out to sea, 1935 would be just another cat 3 or 4.
Here I am in the land of hurricanes, every year the same predictions. 14 Hurricanes, 7 will make land and 4 will be high category. Taaa Daaaa! Now pay me 100K, for the prediction. Naaaaah, enjoy the weather girl with the big boobs telling you the same thing.
Forget the massive population increase. Forget that more and more people are building homes and businesses in the zones where hurricanes have always clobbered the U.S. None of that has anything to do with all of the new destruction being caused by your normal everyday hurricanes. Geez. Moron “Researchers”. If you throw a rock at 3 people standing on a football field, not much is going to happen. If you throw a rock at 1000 people standing on a football field, somebody’s gonna get hit.
“Now the global warming alarmists have come up with a new fungible metric. Area of Total Destruction.”
Agree, and at this point flat-out LYING about what they observe is acceptable to them, due to the greater ‘cause’.
More people, more homes and businesses, more destruction. CommonSense 101.
Contrast aerial photographs from the 1950s to the sea of houses covering much of Miami-Dade County today.
